I was in that boat also.
Your covered by the suit for 12 yrs from in service date. 2021 or 2022 sometime for you. It ain’t over yet get under it and inspect it yourself with a ball pien. The crc won’t last long if you have rust now. Some pics would be good. I spent a lot of time trying to save mine but still lost the war thank god!
    This failed mine.

    Don’t trust the dealer!!
Mine was coated 3 yrs ago noticed this like a year later not as bad as this but yea they tried to bury it to outlast the original lsc for frame corrosion.

Not sure other than regular cleaning with fresh water.... and praying of course that the new frame was somehow manufactured better than before... suggestions are welcome!

    Pretty sure I’m unsure!!
I had used lps3 and failed.
Lots swear by fluid film I’m thinking the Eastwood stuff.

Funny you mentioned fresh water I do the auto wash thing in the winter.
Like said here on tw and I never thought about it they reuse water so I’m washing in a nice salt water bath during the winter.

    I don't know what lps3 is..?
I am lucky in that I don't have winter to deal with, just daily salt air living near the coast... good luck, I wonder if there will be another warranty claim in 12 years... ??!?

Being a 2010 your probably fine now. But you do have some miles on it. Get a lot of pics underneath before it gets coated.

My hole on the starboard side directly across from the converter.

Did the dealer actually tell you a replacement frame is available if the crc failed, before your 12yr wep?

There is some controversy about the “squirt and done” crc and any future claims against Toyota. When I read the wep, it only says it covers previous crc treatments not the wep treatment.

Get it in writing. Or not get the squirt done until later. It’s not of question if a hole will appear, just when.......

(YouTube videos of Jeep rusted frames makes ours look like a walk through the rose garden!)

Regarding the intermediate steering shaft, I had that done at an independent shop for around I think $250...can't find the receipt right now. But they ended up breaking my clock spring in the process (easy to break if not careful) so I had to pay another $120ish to replace that myself.

As for the frame recall, looks like it's hit or miss with people. I got the letter in the mail, brought my truck in for pictures, and was approved for the recall. Then somehow "oops, we lost the pictures", and it bumped me to the back of the line. So I had to go back in and get pictures taken again. Several months had passed between those 2 sessions. In a way it worked to my benefit, my frame has 1 less winter on it now, but still they lose points for lack of professionalism and putting my safety at risk if the frame is really that bad to the point they'll replace it almost free.

I ended up getting hit with $107.28 in various parts. When I argued the point that I shouldn't be responsible for their problems they said "Yea but you're getting X dollars worth of work done, that's small compared to that", when I still pressed the issue, "Well if you don't pay that then you are refusing to have the recall done". Also, I don't know how true this is, but a local repair shop said that I was suppose to be given the option of either a buyback OR a recall. Again...not sure how true that buyback thing is. I saw no mention of it in any of the official documents at the time, 2015-2016, and the dealership didn't mention it either.

I will say that I was happy with the actual work done. It basically gave my truck an extra life. Everything seems okay, I don't think they broke anything. It was dropped off on a Thursday night and ready by Saturday morning. On the other hand, my dad knows a guy that had his in for the same recall, and that guy says his truck just hasn't been the same since.

Lastly, someone requested a parts list here of the work done. Here is mine, the red circle is the list of parts I was charged for + tax:

There was definitely not a buy back on this frame warranty enhancement program...

Yes I agree I’m not looking forward to them doing the work but don’t have much choice.
A lot of people have issues when they get their rigs back.
From the paperwork work I received if you have previously been crc’d you don’t get crc again.
But if you have been and fail you get a frame.
And no buy out on our 1st or 2nd gen Tacoma that died with the days of the Toyota pick-up.
They created the 1st gen tundras and stopped the pick-up. They too had frame rot so they stopped the 1st gen tundras made our Tacoma’s and made the tundra full size.
I’d like to wait til next yr to do this but just had to know now dammit.
So yes paperwork is started and I’m stressing already.

The issues that I had when I picked my truck after the frame replacement were that the bed was not aligned properly and the license plate light wire was cut. They fixed them while I waited.. the biggest problem that I had was that they put on the wheels with an impact gun and over tightened them so bad that they warped my 6 month old rotor.. they denied this of course. I also just had to replace the same front wheel bearing less than 4,000 miles later.. I couldn’t get the wheel off with a breaking bar .I had to have a mechanic remove the lug nuts with his impact gun.

Ok, so sorry in advance for so many pictures was a little unsure of exactly where to look but i think i got most of it covered, lighting sucked in some spots but here is my frame at 185k, do you think maybe the frame rot has started?20180707_184730.jpg 20180707_184734.jpg 20180707_184742.jpg 20180707_184754.jpg 20180707_184814.jpg 20180707_184820.jpg 20180707_184825.jpg 20180707_184847.jpg 20180707_184925.jpg 20180707_184939.jpg 20180707_185019.jpg 20180707_185039.jpg 20180707_185059.jpg 20180707_185105.jpg 20180707_185140.jpg 20180707_185149.jpg 20180707_185202.jpg 20180707_185328.jpg 20180707_185351.jpg 20180707_185502.jpg 20180707_185432.jpg

Frame replacement time. Yours looks somewhat better than my 2007 did at 65K miles, but seems to me you had a couple of money shots in there.

BTW, the dealer tells me my frame replacement should be done on Monday, so I'll soon let y'all know how it turned out. My truck has been in the shop since late April, so it's going to be interesting to be back with it...

The issue i have is they already looked at it a few months ago and said there is no perforated rust so we are going to under coat it. It goes in on Monday :/ i would much rather have a frame replacement but how do i convince them otherwise? does it work to there benefit to do frame replacements? I.E they make a lot of money from charging Toyota?

I would agree. I've driven plenty of those, and they have way more response than the tranny in the 2018 I drove.

    Let them coat it!
They will not do a good enough prep for it to stick.
6-8 months it will start scabbing where rust is growing.
Your frame looks like it’s got some spots but by 2022 they will be holes.
