    Hey everyone,
So about five years ago I brought my 99 Tacoma in for the inspection and they said it wasn't bad but they would spray the frame. So last year as I was noticed that the shock had broken off of the frame. I brought it to my mechanic and he welded on a new mount and it was fine. So today I notice the same thing! Only this time there is a nice chunk of the frame attached to the mount. I just emailed Toyota to see what they can do, I have heard of them replacing the frame/ buying back the truck if they did the spray and the frame still rotted. Has anyone else had this happen???

As I understand it Toyota extended the warranty to 15 years on the frames. You are outside the 15 year window for either the buy back or frame replacement. You are, unfortunately, on your own.

That is the trouble with having mechanics .

They only see what they want to.

Since it appears you don`t weld yourself .

It all depends on just how bad you want to keep this truck .

Paying to have it fixed correct is going to get expensive.

You have 15 years from the service date of the truck as I understand it, I would take it to the dealer that did the spray and be very loud in the sales area about your problem.

I do want to keep the truck, it has 210000 and runs great, needs a couple other small things but it has been good to me. Someone I work with said as long as I brought the truck in to have the spray, they are still liable to have the frame replaced if the spray should fail. It is kind of bs when you think about it.

they are wrong, it doesn't matter when it was sprayed, all spraying does is extend the rust through warranty to 15 years from manufacture date so add 15 years from the mfg date on the door tag and thats when your warranty ran out. (which was sometime last year)

sorry for your loss but perhaps you can locate another Tacoma that needs an engine so you can get back on the road at an affordable price. otherwise all you can do is sell it for a parts truck, sometimes this can get more returned money in your pocket then you would think.

Or find another frame...Mine is rusted, too. I found a parts truck with a really nice frame to swap. If your frame is good other than the shock mount you could get a plate welded in across the broken place.
