I'm new to the forum. Have a interesting dilemma. My taco 2005 was determined to have a defective frame and I'm waiting (up to 6 months ) for the frame to be replaced. Coincidentally the day before it was to go to the shop for the inspection the oil light came on and I could hear lifter noise. So I had the truck towed to the dealer. The dealer told me I had no oil pressure. They recommend that I replace the engine with a used engine with 89k miles. Mine has 112K. Mine has been well maintained with oil changes every 3-5k miles. Not knowing anything about the one going in I am considering replacing with a remanufactured engine.
Has anyone had experience with remanufactured suppliers good or bad. My engine is the 4.0
    1 GF RE. Thanks
My other option is to replace the oil pump. I'm interested why the dealer didn't offer that as an option. O well

    Thanks

Start cheap, oil pumps tend to be easy to replace

Oh man, sorry to hear about your incident OP. I'm not sure I'd want to sink money into a "new" engine, but that's just me. I'd try the oil pump and go from there. This isn't typical for the 4.0
