I did some more research and it seems like there are quite a few options for me at this point. Regardless of what I go with, I am fairly confident that any of the above mentioned products are better than nothing.

I will update once I decide on a route and get it all done.

Rob! I think this is my old truck you're talking about. How's it been treating you?

I would coat the frame in fluid film. You can take the bed off to reach some more areas but I just put my 2016 up on a lift and spray from underneath and have zero rust from the PA winters so far. Fluid film is the best product I've used for rust prevention. It doesn't cause harm to electrical components and it takes care of squeaks, too.

5-6 cans should do the truck, or you can buy it by the gallon. It runs about $10/can

@redbull9944 that is it! It has been treating pretty good! Changed out the fuel filter, chopped some of the fender liner, added some weather tech floor mats and tinted it. It has been running excellent, save for the damn check engine light, it comes on then goes off, comes on, then goes off. I've got parts stacking up here for it too, just trying to find time to install it all. I did have to address the rear diff cover, it started weeping from the cover, so a local shop (Barnes 4WD) offered a cap to replace it that is beefy and got that squared away.

I have: BudBuilt front skid and belly pan, TRD Pros with 285/70r17 KM2s, Tundra 5100s with OME 882s, FJ Cruiser rear 5100s, OME Dakars, Tundra Calipers, pads, rotors, new double din radio, new headlights, new corner lights, E locker actuator and a few more odds and ends. I will need to tackle the rockers at some point, but they haven't progressed at this point, but they are on the list for sooner, rather than later.

I sadly don't have readily available access to a lift, so pulling the bed off is probably my best option for the time being and knocking everything out at once while offering the most access to the diff as well.

PM me or text me some pics of it. I want to see how it turned out.

The check engine light thing is so weird. Do you guys have emissions inspections down there? See if the gas cap is sealing properly. I can't believe I drove it for months after getting the frame replaced and the CEL comes on 15 minutes after I hand you the keys... I replaced the charcoal canister and lines when I had the frame done to clear the CEL and it was good the whole way up until you bought it.

I hated to see that truck go. I'm actually looking at an '03 right now for a new project.

But back to the fluid film... you can even put the truck up on ramps and get a crawler and spray it. That's what I did when I didn't have access to a lift. The FF kind of stinks. Wear old clothes, glasses, and a hat.

Need any other advice or anything PM me or text me.

Once it is all done, I will shoot you a text. Hoping for late November to get it all done, been busy with work and some home projects.

The CEL is what it is.. the truck runs great and is still quiet as ever. Luckily my county is non emissions so it doesn't affect me either way. I somehow lost of the bolts for the exhaust flange right before the cat (probably rusted and broke), quick trip to advance fixed it and that is when the CEL cut on and off, so I am wondering if the rear 02 is dying. I will have to dig more into it later.

The ramps are a good idea to FF the truck. I could do half and then spin the ramps and do the other side. This would allow drainage to cover any area I missed.

I will update you once it is all done.

Sounds good. If you lost my number I'll PM you. I want ideas especially if I decided to pick up this '03 for a winter project. Take care Rob

@RobZ9132 , where are you located at in NC, I'm in Salisbury, and I'm facing some of the same issues. I have quite a collection of new parts to install, lower ball joints, tie rods for both sides, New Fan Bearing, Bilstein 4600 shocks on the way, and the rear diff breather re location kit. No lift available either, so I'm just going to put in on 4 jack stands and have at it. I would like to get all this done before really cold weather gets here. My biggest problem is getting my (Helpers) motivated to get this done.

I am in the Pinehurst/West End area. Be happy to lend a hand sometime (not 100% sure when I am free though). I haven't done the tie rods on my Taco or 4runner but did the LBJs on my 4runner and 2 buddies Tacomas, they are easy with a puller and some PB blaster. The rear diff breather and shocks are a cake walk too.

@RobZ9132 , I don't expect any problems, my truck is pretty much rust free. My biggest issue, is a seriously Screwed up spine. 3 fusion surgeries, and looking at a possible 4th one coming up. I'm trying to get my Brother in Law, My Brother(iffy), and possibly my next door neighbor to do the brunt of the work, with me supervising, and playing the part of gopher. I'll get under the truck and do what I can, but I'm pretty limited.

OUCH! A friends dad has something similar and I know it hurt like hell for him to move. This month is kind of busy, but hoping to get some free time in November, if you're not done, shoot me a PM and I may be able to help out.

@RobZ9132 , I'm retired or disabled, which ever way you want to look at it, so I have all the free time in the world. No Garage here, but a good solid flat drive way. I'm trying to watch the weather and catch me about a 3 day window of no rain and decent temps. Of course with a little help from experienced TW gear heads, I don't think it would quite take that long. :)

Or, you can use 2 to 3 cans of biodegradable motor oil and get the same or better results for a lot less money, using a dedicated garden sprayer.
Both have to be reapplied yearly in the fall for maximum protection . Oil is oil and nothing is better then motor oil which migrates as well as any oil based product ....that’s its job.

For obvious reachable areas including suspension components, frame members and nuts and bolts, just a foam brush and a cheap can of red wheel bearing grease to “paint” it on does wonders. Why spend 10 times as much for commercial products that do no better ?
