If you haven't seen any of my posts here, you are "Preaching to the choir". The owners who really got screwed are the 2009+. I have a feeling Toyota prefers using a limited service campaign, that way only Tacoma's owns will hear about it, so it doesn't make the newspapers/TV and they keep selling these trucks as high quality/reliable, with a premium price, which also helps there resale value too. Hopefully the 2009+ know about Toyota's silent "frame rot recall", but those who don't and even those who do, have no frame replacement nor treatment, so they are left high + dry......sad.

I told them, I have a neighbor that has a 2004 Tacoma, that had the CRC sprayed. My neighbor said, "the spray just came off and was then given a new frame". I even said, the 2004 will be warrantied till 2018 and we are warrantied to the ended in 2014, for the ones that got it inspected early, so 9 years less of a warranty for the 2008. A 2008 inspected in 2014 had a 6 year warranty on the frame, while a 2004 had 15 years, so how fair is that with 9 less years???

In my opinion these defective frames should be recalled, like the defective leaf springs are. With over 711,000 Tacoma's being recalled for the leaf spring at $1,300 per truck = $924,300,000 or close to 1 billion dollars. If they can find 1 billion for the leaf spring recall, then they can find the money to replace all the defective frames too.......... just my 2 cents

You haven't a clue what you're talking about. The coating needs to stay malleable so that it can effectively protect the frame. Krown undercoat is exactly the same way and they have been around for many years with great success. The hardened undercoat applications are what tend to ruin frames or make rust problems even worse as they trap moisture after the hardened layer cracks and traps moisture.

I agree with your posting, in my opinion, what is happening with are trucks is that the corrosion starts from the inside. The road spray/salt from the front tires passes through the front frames holes, then collects internally in the box section and the heat from the catalytic converters, just accelerates the corrosion faster. The older 2nd generation Tacoma's, without the plug kit for the frame under the front wheel wells, are especially susceptible.

You're probably correct. If the spray is applied in the same fashion as Krown, the interior of the frame should be getting coated as well. I'm sure many of the dealers were not doing a proper job of this though.

It took until 2010 for the 01-04's to get recalled, and until 2015-2016 to get the 05-08's to get recalled. if the 09+'s are getting recalled (which they probably will) it will just take time.

Again, I agree with you and the reason I do, is because 4 months ago I was washing my frame and after it dried, I noticed a brown color around a drain hole after the boxed section. I know Toyota used a lanolin material to coat the interior of the frame, when they performed the LSC. My question is, how long does it last and how well did they treat it. Fluid Film is also made of Lanolin (basically sheep's wool) and they recommend reapplying it annually. I purchased a spray kit from Kellysports, that comes with a 32" wand and lets you coat deep into the internal frame, along with a gallon pail of Fluid Film, so I can keep the internal protection at 100%.

Yep... Even Krown requires an annual application to remain effective. The CRC offered by Toyota will never fully "rust-proof" the frames, only delay the inevitable with a one time application.

Yea you're right but I can ascertain - from all the negative posts - that the CRC treatment used on the Tacomas sucks balls.

Just got a little progress report. The frame ETA has been pushed out 4 to 8 weeks. Will probably end up at 4 months all said and done. Looks like the 4runner is gonna get put to work towing before I get my truck back. I'm bummed cause I don't have a way to haul the kayaks/canoes with the loaner. I'm gonna see if I can get them to put me in a new tacoma or tundra next month.

What part of Illinois are your in L J? Looks like 4 months is pretty accurate. My replacement will be right at the 4 month mark. I'm in central Illinois (peoria area). It'll be exactly 10 years since I bought my Tacoma new. Happy Birthday, Truck.

I'm in Northern Illinois (chicago area). Was kinda expecting the work to take longer than the original estimate. I asked them how much to reset my 5100 front shocks to the zero position from .85. They quoted $66 a side. Seems a bit spendy to me. Might just do the work myself.

Doing 5100s with 885s myself. Had the coils mounted by a tire shop for $20 each. Dealer wanted $100 each.

If I could get my hands on the shocks I'd do the work myself but Toyota has it parked on their lot. I'll have to wait and see how cheap I feel when they start on the frame swap. The other option is to install air bags.

What's up y'all, I had my frame replaced! I have a 06 Tacoma and I live in Virginia(currently going to school in NC) but it went smoothly. Took it to the dealer and the found holes and told me it needs replaced. They ordered all the parts that come with the replacement including the frame and told me it would take 4-5 months for everything to get to Toyota Garage to make the swap. I kept my truck for the time being and 2 months later everything came in. I brought it in and it took 2 days to get the whole job done and got my truck back and I must say I'm a happy camper. I have noticed some noises that I've never hear before but she's not falling apart yet and I can't find anything wrong but I practically have a brand new truck so I can't complain!IMG_2693.jpg IMG_2694.jpg IMG_2695.jpg IMG_2696 (1).jpg IMG_2697.jpg IMG_2699.jpg IMG_2700.jpg

Finally got the call to have my frame replaced... I'm wondering if any of you have the parts list from Toyota that states all the parts they are going to replace with the frame recall?? I saw it somewhere on here, thought I saved it on my computer... but can't seem to find it anywhere. :(
