They charged an hour labor for the progressive AAL install. They would have charged to assemble the coils on the front 5100s, but i had them done at a tire shop for cheaper. I got the 5100s at a great price: all 4 for $250 from jet.com, found the 885's on Amazon for $165 (free shipping), and bought the AAL's (~$175), spacer(~$29), and shock components that were needed to put them together (top hat and washers, etc) (think they were around $80) from headstrong offroad.

If i had to do it again, I think I would start with a call to Headstrong. Maria can get you going with the right setup and probably get you a good price to get your coil overs put together. They are highly regarded here...for good reason.

My trailer hitch looks like a ball of rust. They passed the frame, I argued that the trailer hitch could be considered part of the frame since it is the mounting point for the rear bumper. They didn't agree:frusty:

Service Adviser surprised me when he called today to say he is moving to another position and passed a new contact as I wait for my frame replacement. The majority of the parts are there, waiting the frame. It's been 60 days on the estimated 90-120 days.
I've also received the parts I've ordered: steering rack bushings, drive shaft center bearing, and three U-Joints. I'll also have them replace the AC Compressor since the clutch squeals for the first 20 miles on humid days (I live in Central Florida, every day is humid).

What dealership replaced your frame? I took mine to get inspected on Feb. 6 and they said it would be 2 weeks until I got my new frame. I got a text from the parts manager that they are looking at 6-8 months now? This is in Charlotte NC.

my guy said the same thing.. 3-4 weeks... plan on 6 months. anything before that is a bonus. if you contact toyotacares they might be able to give you an estimate on when you frame will be in. if they do have a date, factor in a couple of weeks from that date for delays.

Yeah I pretty much knew "a couple weeks" was not going to happen. Where are you located?

Took mine in at the beginning of march and they told me that it'd be 3 months. They put me in a freakin Hyundai Elantra for a rental car, and I was furious. On top of that, I called them back about a week ago and they are now saying it could be the end of the summer before I get my truck back. THE END OF THE SUMMER!!! I'm 100% foaming at the mouth, PISSED off. I'm also working construction this summer, and the place I am living requires a truck or SUV just to get down the driveway. I've called Toyota and the rental company, but somehow they can't get me a truck to drive. I'll never drive anything but a Toyota purely because they are the best-built machines for being awesome that ever existed, but I'm not a happy camper to say the least. Now I will say, props to Toyota for paying for the rental car. I'm not trying to sound like a whining baby, but it's really their fault to begin with.

Welp, I'm an idiot and forgot about the deadline. I inspected my frame in December and could barely find any surface rust. Was going to take it in for inspection in March, ended up buying a house and completely forgot. Any word on extensions? Any luck with 'I didn't get the recall notice because I moved' type excuses?

Yeah, I'm not optimistic. I'm in Norcal on the coast. Truck has been in salt air all of it's life ('07) but like I said it was in great condition in December, so I doubt it would've failed. Still a bonehead maneuver on my part :frusty:

I haven't heard of many, if any Cali trucks having issues with the frame. I'm sure they're out there, just don't ever read about any. Look around this thread, and Google, for pics of the main problem areas (mostly the inside vertical sections of the boxed sections (both sides) by the catalytic converters). The main problem seems to be salty/sandy road spray getting into the inside of the frame, and presumably not draining out fully. Causing the frames to rot out from the inside. If your not seeing much surface rust, and don't drive on salty roads on a regular basis, your probably GTG.

BTW, I just noticed your user name. Might have clued me into where you were from.
