    takes a lot longer to get to the dealerships up there in Canada?
    They are inspecting till the end of 2016, I believe.

    How are those frames holding up?? What will toyota do for you in two years when the frame completely rots away??? Better start selling now.

    OK, that sounds about right. They told me the timeline is 14-16 weeks. But also said they have one that was inspected in March and still waiting on a couple parts for that one.... We'll see, just nice to know that it's approved and the parts are ordered.

    I have sprayed upwards of probably50-75 frames myself. How long the coating lasts depends on how careful (or careless) the technician is when applying it and the driving conditions in the immediate future after the coating is applied. Either way, if not done right, it is absolutely not a permanent fix. That being said, you will not find another auto manufacturer that stands behind their products the way Toyota has throughout its history. They make an incredibly reliable vehicle.. there will be flaws, as there are with every product at some point.

    I got mine sprayed in January. I knew the frame would easily pass the inspection, but couldn't pass up the offer for a good rust preventative coating. I'm pretty impressed at the attention to detail showed by the folks doing the spraying.

    Uh... Toyota has had faulty frames since the 1st Gen. Which do you think they would rather do, spray your truck, replace your frame, or buyback your truck? There are also newer trucks in the lawsuit that is going on right now. Maybe it's just me, but if they really "stood behind" their products, they would have discontinued faulty frames that have been going on for over 10 years. I also find it interesting that the 3rd Gen frame fits on the 2nd gen perfectly, hmmm.

    I didn't say they were 100% correct in everything they have done, maybe I should've worded things a little differently. In comparison to other manufacturers, Toyota has gone above and beyond most from my experience. The 1st gen trucks were definitely worse than the 2nd gen from what I personally encountered. Several friends of mine had their trucks bought back from them by Toyota, and our shop replaced something like 65 frames before I left. It was something like $10k in parts PER frame.. Ford had several year models of the Ranger that were right on par with Toyota's rust issues and never did a single thing about it. I'm a little biased considering I grew up around Toyota vehicles and my father swears by Toyota and Lexus, but it's hard to argue their reliability. I'm sure this stuff varies from place to place. When I was technician, Toyota took care of almost every customer who had a legitimate problem and it was usually the technician who got the short end of the stick with warranty work! Then again, replacing frames paid us a full weeks worth of work and we could get them done in 1-2 days.

    I agree with this member here.
    Very treu that Toyota did gave me a great service after they accepted to replace my frame on Feb.2015
    I only had the Tacoma for a couple of weeks before i founded out that i bought a truck with a bad frame.
    The previous owner told me that it was find ,bla bla bla,he very well knew he was screwing me that dick!
    Though at first my Dealer which we have been doing all our setvices on all pur Toyotas for over 20 years told me that my Tacoma should never have passed the safety check,so maybe Canada Toyota could refuse my case,but they did accepted and replaced the frame with all those parts that everyone knows already for free,did nt cost me a penny.
    Though for about a month or so,it was nt a great experience.
    I also bought that Tacoma from some GM Dealer,it was the deal for that guy that screwed me,i had to go and buy the truck so he will save my payment plus taxes on his truck he was buying,in other words he gave the truck in for his new truck and i was buyingbit the very same day he was getting his.
    Then again,that Dealer made me sign a paper as is,no warenty.It was a 2007 and had 92 kilometers on it.Now about two years later,i only have 112 thousand kilometers.
    Bottom line ,i am happy with my Tacoma,runs really well,and all my services for my Tacoma is still done at my Toyota Town Dealer.
    Right here in town they have done over 30 frames on Tacoma and Tundra.
    Would i buy again a Tacoma,yes absolutely!

    Hi everyone, I need some advice as to what to do about my truck. I've had problems with my dealer doing the recall improperly (3 times). I called Toyota and had it brought to a different dealer that inspected it and agreed that it was done poorly and needed to be fixed. The new dealer sent it back to the original dealer to have the frame cleaned and scraped. The new dealer called me to come in and inspect it, it looks terrible. The coating is too thick and can't be removed from some areas. I told them to go ahead and redo the coating (it would take another 50+ hours to completely clean the frame and that's being optimistic). I think that the value of my truck is reduced plus I have been without the truck for 64 days this year as of yesterday. What if any compensation should I seek from the original dealer? Any ideas on how i should proceed?

    I'd look at this the other way around. Toyota stood up and fixed a lot of trucks, early 2000 models as well the '05-'08 models when other manufacturers would have said no.
    I'm planning to keep my truck for a while yet, but I'd be more concerned with the 2016-2017 new model bugs than the frames.

    Finally got my frame replacement! The inspection was done in mid-March. Shout out to Warrenton Toyota, Warrenton, VA! They did the job in just under 48 hours! I dropped the truck off on Tuesday evening and picked it up on Thursday evening (Oct 20). These guys have it down to science now. It rides like a new truck again. I also got the rear leaf spring replacement recall at the same time. I made it out of the dealership with less than $165 in out of pocket expenses. We replaced a rubber brake line that was seized and replaced the transmission mount that had a bolt seized in it.

    That's what most dealers tell people. In reality, 2-3 days is what it takes. Lots of shops have technicians that can do them in one work day. We had several guys doing 3 frames per week when the parts were available. I did a few of them.. my first took 3 days, the rest I got done in 2 days.
