ha.. no kidding right... i wish... ended up ordering from an out of state dealer as my local dealers have A) Pulled the parts list from online, and B) always quote high prices... shipping ended up being less than the local tax. i'll take it.

Hey, Guys! Was looking at this thread and just had a conversation with one of the Attorneys working this lawsuit this morning, so I just joined up here today as a new member, so I could pass along some information that may ease some minds.
I had the recall work done last February, and they did the CRC coating. Since then, I have had large flakes of it coming off, with sheets of rust attached to the back of it! Not inspiring any confidence here.
The Attorney this morning said that even if the recall work was already done, and the coating applied, as in my case, the settlement will allow unlimited re-inspections of the frame, until 12 years from the first vehicle "in-service" date. The perforation holes have to be at least 10 mm to qualify for frame replacement. He also stated some of common areas he's heard of rusting through are below passenger side door, and around right engine mount.
Last thing... thanks to all of you posting pics of your rust-throughs. Helps us all know where to look. Good luck all!

Good info, the issue of repeated "unlimited" re-inspections is not clear in the court documents--thank you for posting...

I just bought an '05 last week with some surface rust. I haven't inspected it closely. Am I SOL due to the date I purchased it or can the previous owner still apply for this?

I brought my truck (05 Tacoma)in to the dealership abound 1 month ago, I had to call Toyota Canada personally and setup the appointment because the recall was over.
It failed the inspection, and Toyota has given the green light to replace the frame, apparently they are doing it in goodwill??!! Unfortunately I am without my truck for an undisclosed amount of time, and because it's after the recall I don't get a loaner vehicle.

My advice, call your local dealership and get a contact number for Toyota and they will probably at minimum pay the dealership to inspect your truck and write up a report

Months... They have 5 Tacomas to do before mine, and apparently the wait time just to get the frame is quite awhile

I just got my truck back late February and it went in late October. I was told 7-8 months, some people it took 11-12 months. So hopefully yours is ready sooner like mine was (4 months) There was also 11 Tacoma's ahead of me at my local dealer.

So your frame has been approved by Toyota representative? Usually takes a day for dealership to send off pictures to this guy and he either approves or denies the claim for new frame.

I guess I was lucky that my frame wasn't so bad that I could keep my truck while they waited on the parts, took 4 months for them to come in then the dealership had my truck for about a week and a half.

I bought my 07 Access Cab in June of 2015 and my frame is all fucked in certain areas, my local dealer that did my leaf spring replacement wouldn't even look at my frame. I wonder if I can go for it now. My power steering rack is rusting right through I have no idea how much longer til I have to replace that on my own dime. I also have some other areas I am worried about. Anyone have any tips

Wait until the class action suit is finalized (which will happen sometime after the Fairness Hearing on April 27), and until the dealers have received their instructions, and bring it in...

You are not a "class member" per the terms of the Settlement Agreement, which is bad and "sort of good": The bad is obvious as you not a class member and will not be able to apply for the remedies offered under the SA. The sort of good is that you are not a class member and are therefore fre to pursue Toyota on your own--even just asking might be enough to get some action (it never hurts to ask as many here have found).

However without perforations (the precedent set by the CA settlement) the best you will get is an application of CRC, likely applied by either someone the dealer has sub-contracted with, and only wants to get them done ASAP; or a lower echelon dealer "technician" who will not be happy about being the one who gets to spray the gunk. There is a good possibility that either of these will just make matters worse--a poor application of some unspecified CRC is arguably worse than doing nothing.

My advice is to bring to somebody in your area that specializes in rustproofing and have it done professionally.
