final judgement issued on May 21st. What is the time frame now before we can start bugging Toyota to replace our frames?

Damn, my frame didn't look that bad and they replaced it back in Nov.

    Not going to brag.
2 hours of reading and I haven't found my answer. My 2006 was purchased and driven in salt-prone midwest. I had the frame inspected and treated under the service campaign. They did a shit-job and the stuff started flaking off within the month. Now 2 years later, my frame is basically naked with rust covering every surface. I've also relocated to the PNW. I don't see holes, but the frame is rotting out internally and expanding into dusty flakes near the spring hangers. Here's what I read:

"If the perforation of the frame does not meet or exceed the Rust Perforation Standard, and the vehicle is currently registered in a CRC State, and the vehicle has not previously received CRC or a new frame, pursuant to a prior Limited Service Campaign (“LSC”), then the dealer or authorized sublet facility will apply CRC to the Subject Vehicle’s frame."

So I no longer live in a CRC State AND my frame has been previously coated under the LCS. If my frame passes inspection because it doesn't have a hole, it sounds like nothing additional will be done to my frame. Seems unfair as the frame is well on it's way to failing, just because of an incompetent prior frame coating application and the fact that I've relocated. I still drive in salted roads as all the mountain passes receive salt applications.

I think that you should have an additional year from the date the settlement is signed. Frame Rail corrosion is listed on the settlement, not just holes.

This was my experience. I was told to F-off by the service manager. They didn't even want to talk to me let alone look at my frame until they had direction by Toyota Corporate. This was 2 weeks after the Final Judgement was issued on May 21st.

New to the forum but I have been lurking around for awhile. I have a 2006 Tacoma that has 328,000 miles on her young body. I took her in for the rear leaf spring recall last weekend and was talking with the service tech. Toyota still has no idea that any of this is going on. They found a ton of rust issues on my frame including the entire frame splitting in between the layers of metal. They told me to bring the truck back to have the frame replaced after I get the official recall letter from Toyota. Any thoughts or suggestions on what I should do next?

Okay. I traded in my 2015 Tacoma for this one last November.

How long have you owned it? (edit: hadn't seen your follow-up post when I started this, November is good as if you had purchased after 12/2/2016 you would not be a class member)

Did you receive the direct mail postcard notice from the Brian Warner v. Toyota USA settlement administrators (here is the Long Form Notice)? There may or may not be any additional notices, nor will one be required once the suit is finalised (unless the Settlement Agreement is altered) as language contained therein is as follows:

You can see that any notice beyond the direct mail postcard is up to Toyota's discretion--except that they MUST send reminders to class members in CRC states when only 6 months remain for that remedy.

Short story, you are correct The dealer (not "Toyota") has no idea of what is going on, as Toyota has not provided them with anything as yet. While this may be called a "recall" when they do notify dealers (not likely as it has nothing to do with the NHTSA or Federal Government), if could also be termed a CSC (Customer Satisfaction Campaign) or even a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) or something else ("warranty extension" or whatever).

All anyone can do now is wait for the appeal process to be over, and for whatever final/final judgement comes from the court--and then for Toyota to provide the dealers with guidance as to how to proceed.

When? As stated earlier December is as good a guess as any; though the thing has been going on for 2 years and 4 months now (the original complaint was filed on March 24, 2015) so who knows.

Don't hold your breath as some 3rd gen owner's with actually "recalled" trucks have been waiting 2+ months--without their trucks in their possession--for the nuts on their rear differential carriers to be tightened...

So...what if I bought my Tacoma two days ago and I noticed rust damage underneath today. Am I ineligible for the settlement?

Yup, per the terms of the "not yet final" Brian Warner v. Toyota USA Settlement Agreement (click here).

Do you have significant rust issues, where are you located, where did the truck live most of its life?

Not sure if you can tell in this photo. Passenger side. Right where it changes to the fully boxed portion of the frame.
Truck was from PA, I live in Ohio

That is actually pretty good compared to many "rust-belt" '05s I've seen photos of. In any event all is up in the air at this point because of the appeals that have been filed and accepted--when anything will actually be done is 110% "WTF knows" at this point...

    Bought from a dealer.

Just took it to my oil spray shop and they filled the frame, doors, rockers, etc with oil. Doubt it will rust any further, just wish I would have caught it.

Friend of mine who does rust-proofing. Drive over a pit, sprays oil inside frame, on undercarriage. Drills holes in doors and rockers, shoots oil inside. Rubber plugs in the holes that looks factory. Shoots inside tailgate and hood, gas door, etc. Keeps vehicles SO much cleaner even in the winter.

OK Thanks. We Call that the "old Farmers" trick using their old used oiled. Does work and the exposed frame parts usually get protected for a bout a year or more - the in the door and frame spray lasts for years. Better than nothing in the bottom of doors and around fender to body seams.

I have a 98 Tacoma. I did have it inspected by a local dealership about 5-6 years ago. At that time it 'passed' and they had someone spray some coating on it. Now fast forward to 2017. The coating in some spots have flaked off and the area around the front mounts of the leaf springs is rusting out pretty bad. Anyone happen to know if I have any options with Toyota or am I SOL? I thought they extended the warranty at that time, but can't remember the details of it.
