Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
    Vehicle:
    Goodbye 06, Hello 21. TRDORDCSBMT
    Tornado intake, Duralube, Fartcan.
I am officially in the boat. Never had anything done on the first go around. Decided I had better get it inspected to get the coating this time. I had fully expected the truck to pass. It did not. They would not give me the specifics of the failure, but said it was located in an area not visible from simply being under the truck. It is still safe to drive on the road according to them, so I will continue to drive it for the 1-2 months they have advised that it will take to procure all necessary parts. Was told up front that transportation will be provided while they have it. No mention of any cost to me for the replacement. Currently waiting on ToyoCorp to review the photos the dealer took of the frame. Once they deem it as a fail, parts will be ordered. Service writer told me they have done a couple dozen 2nd Gen Tacomas thus far and can turn it around in 3 days. I purchased the truck new there in 2006. They have taken very good care of me in the past with TSB & recall issues.

I will keep updating as the process moves forwards.

My 2010 is going in april since ill be on vacation. Service told me they would replace the frame if it needs it which I don't think it does no signs of rust hence why I choose this truck. Was told if it doesn't need replaced they will coat my current frame. After reading some posts on here not sure if I want them replacing it and worrying about everything is connected again properly.. Can I deny the frame or something and just get the coating? OR it's not my decision?

IMO the coating is crap. Get the frame replaced and be sure the dealer fixes all issues. At least this way you can sell the truck if you are not happy.

If by any chance the frame needs replacement, get it done. Yes, there can be a few headaches after it is done but to me, it was/is well worth it. From what I've read here in the last 3 years that coating only seems to delay the inevitable.

They are all correct. I had the coating done, and a year or so later they replaced the frame. The coating did very little.

If Toyota wanted to replace my defective frame on their dime I would happily accept. I have heard many bad experiences with the CRC coating, the only negative thing I can say is that I take a little bit of it with me everytime I'm working under my truck, but otherwise it has held up well and doing its job. IMO the most important thing I do to prolong my frames longevity is to use a 2' 360-degree spray nozzle from Kelly Sports to coat the inside box section with Fluid Film before the salt season begins.

I asked this in another Frame Recall thread but might as well do it here for x2 chance of answer. I was wondering if anyone with the factory tow package had their receiver replaced as a part of this. Mine is rusted to shit and am about 5 weeks out from my frame parts arriving at the stealership.

From what other people have said the tow package doesn't qualify as part of the frame, so no it's not replaced as part of the LSC.

its crazy seeing some of these pictures with how bad these frames are. mine isnt nearly as bad as some of these. my truck goes in this coming monday for a frame though. im happy, got alot of work to do sunday before it goes in, mainly taking out my rear lift because its getting new rear leaf packs also. this is a pic of the spot that is the worst on mine.

Curious, where has your truck lived most of its life and did you have the frame cleaned regularly? No frame should look as bad as yours being a 2006 and barely 12 years old no matter how the frame was treated.

From what other people have said the tow package doesn't qualify as part of the frame, so no it's not replaced as part of the LSC

Yet it holds on the rear bumper and rusts worse than the frame!

I think I need to take a look at mine again. They coated it last year but did a shit job! Didn’t clean it beforehand and it flaked off!

Will you bring it to the dealership right before your 12-year service date for the final frame inspection? My 12-year in-service date is 10/2/06, so was thinking of having them inspect it the last week of September.
