Frame rust recall

I had new rear shocks installed.I brought them with me and there was no labor charge...Not that there should have been!

 

So if there is no perforation, Toyota still coats it right?

 

I ask because I just had my inspection done and guy was like, have a nice day- no mention of CRC. He then brings me this, says only certain states get coverage

Only in the listed states. You don't want the CRC all over, it doesn't help anyway.

 

I took mine in back in December and they found a rust hole. Once they found it it was deemed unsafe to drive so they kept it till they put the new frame under it. I finally got it back this month. I could of continued to drive it but if it was involved in a wreck I would of been liable for the entire list of parts. Glad to have it back but it sucked not having it in the winter. But they also put me in rental cars for the time being at their cost

 

You’re not missing much. Mine got coated, flaked off, now it’s sitting at the dealership awaiting a frame install.

Yeah, they loaned me a 4Runner! Nice vehicle to bad they don’t pay for gas

 

The CRC is atmost eye-wash, at best a band-aid, and if the surface is not properly prepped (a time-consuming pain in the butt, unlikely to be done properly) it is worse than doing nothing...

 

Not looking forward to having it done myself .

 

My 2012 didn’t fall under this recall, my wife’s 2010 did. She passed inspection and wanted to set up an appointment for the crc spray. (New York) are you recommending I don’t go for the crc and just keep an eye on it ? A free service that does more harm than good is no free service

 

I am not sure if this is mandatory by Toyota or not ???

 

If you refuse the frame coating will it affect the warranty on the frame ? Mine is covered until March 2020 .

 

I am not sure, I’ll have to call the dealership tomorrow, that could be a game changer

 

Question for you guys that have had the frame replacement done. Do they put your truck back like it was ? Reason I ask is that I have wiring running from front of truck at battery to the rear of truck with plug in that powers my winch on my boat trailer and I have aftermarket reverse camera. Just wandering if I'm gonna have to redo all this stuff again myself.

When i had mine done, i had to take everything aftermarket off my truck like my bestop, my brush guard and all of my auxillary lighting and wiring. Not sure if this is something that might vary dealership to dealership though.

 

Thats some dealer bullshit . Its not our fault the frames suck on these trucks !

 

My aftermarket items were reinstalled without question....

 

I asked them about my light bar (mounted to my bumper) and bed lights. They said “it won’t be a problem”. We shall see.

 

Ok, suppose to pick up truck this afternoon and no mention of any charge, I did have them put new rear shocks that I provided, they did try to sell me a caliper due to fact that bleeder screw was froze up but the did bleed brakes some via line. Told them I would get my caliper myself

Will update once I have driven the truck a while

I checked on mine today. They got some frames in, he said even if one was mine they still had to wait for other parts. I gave him a list of things that I also wanted done he was going to get me a quote, no word yet.
