Frame rust recall

My aftermarket items were reinstalled without question....

 

I asked them about my light bar (mounted to my bumper) and bed lights. They said “it won’t be a problem”. We shall see.

 

Ok, suppose to pick up truck this afternoon and no mention of any charge, I did have them put new rear shocks that I provided, they did try to sell me a caliper due to fact that bleeder screw was froze up but the did bleed brakes some via line. Told them I would get my caliper myself

I checked on mine today. They got some frames in, he said even if one was mine they still had to wait for other parts. I gave him a list of things that I also wanted done he was going to get me a quote, no word yet.

 

After going to the dealer where I bought my truck , (not my service dealer) I have been approved for a new frame finally ! My service dealer wanted to coat my original frame ! So the 100 mile drive was worth it !

 

. I couldn’t understand why it was denied before...

 

It's good to hear you were approved for a frame replacement. I wonder if it would be worth the time to call Toyota and ask about what requirements must be met to qualify for a frame replacement with frame rail separation like yours and others here, where there isn't a 10 mm hole? I wonder if all dealers look for it and if not Toyota should require it as part of the frame inspection.

 

It is required by Toyota to have the frame rails inspected.It makes the truck structurally unsafe.I can't understand why his wasn't replaced before.

 

I guess my question to Toyota is where on the frame rail and how large a separation is required to fail the inspection. There should be guidelines like they have for the perforation.

Ok, got truck back yesterday at no cost except for shocks I bought for them, only problem so far is Heat/AC dash lights not working and Speedo light doesn't dim down when you turn lights on, reverse camera show no signal on screen and front aftermarket lights not working. Spoke with dealer already and then said to bring it back to them. So, as it goes its been pretty smooth.

 

To tell you the truth I don’t know what they found on my frame to make it fail . And I don’t care as long as I am getting a frame . When the time comes I will take pictures of my old frame and post them up !

 

I guess my servicing dealer near my home doesn’t give a shit they wanted to spray it with wherever it is Toyota does . Said they would pressure wash and needle scale frame then spray .Probably would have done a crappy job of it too . Needless to say I will no longer be using the local dealer anymore . They wouldn’t even flush my tranny for me

 

I suspect it’s more of a supply thing. If they find your frame bad then they have to give you a loaner for however long it takes to get a frame in. Toyota Corp. pays them for the loaner but if all their loaners are being used by frame replacement people then there aren’t any left for other customers now the dealer has to get more loaners from somewhere that increases their overhead. If they can put off some of the replacements it spreads out the revenue stream and decreases their overhead, also known as more profit.

 

Lynrd3’s frame was worse than mine and it was replaced 6 months ago.. luck of the draw maybe.

 

I would be interested in seeing it, mine doesn't look exactly like yours. Mine only has the separation on the bottom rail, where yours has it on the top (not sure you have it on the bottom too). I took pictures of my frame separation before the CRC was applied, but it never occurred to me it could fail inspection for it. I have pictures I uploaded to a few threads on TW and just curious the guidelines Toyota requires for a frame rail separation failure.

 

I think it depends on the dealer

I was told it’s ok to drive but still needs replacement.

 

Looks like a fail to me!
