I originally said I had no issues with my frame replacement and a few days later, I threw an O2 heater code. I took it back and they told me the sensor is shorted out and it would be $270. After my blood pressure went back down, I spoke to the service manager and told him no way I was paying for this. He called back 10 min later and they agreed to cover it.

This could have ruined a really good experience and I am very glad it didn't. The guys really stepped up and took care of things. I gave them a sparkling review on their survey.

THIS-- I am trying to get a truck for a loaner because i use my truck all the time. bikes in the back, ill need to get my boat in the water in like a month, move my snowmobile trailer, etc. and all they can tell me is that the loaner program does not include trucks. I havent put the screws to them yet, because I have about a month or so before i REALLY need to use my truck to pull stuff, but at this point they are not willing to get me a truck. Ill get more nasty with em when the time comes...

Why does my 05 with 235k miles not have frame rust? Do you guys think it was painted, replaced, etc.? It might be because I live in AL though.

    Everyone,

There is now a class action lawsuit in the works for the 2005-2009 Tacomas.

I believe it has been filed in Arkansas, Kansas, and they are filing in California in the next couple of days. I believe a handful of other states are involved as well.

The sooner there is more pressure to get this issue addressed, the sooner action will be taken.

If your truck is not safe, please report to the NTSB as well.

The Law Firm handing the Class Action is

    Milligan Law Offices
    500 S 16th St, Fort Smith, AR 72901

I posted earlier and I am a new member (I don't see my post so I am putting in on here again).

There is a class action lawsuit in the works for the 2005-2009 Tacomas in the "non rust belt states", and I think there is something involved with the states that are actually honoring the frame rust recall as well (since the trucks get a salvage title afterward).

The Law Firm handling the case is

    Milligan Law Offices
    500 S 16th St, Fort Smith, AR 72901
    (479) 783-2213

They have filed in Arkansas, Kansas, and are filing in California this week
    (as far as I know).

I called my dealer before I went in, told them the frame was going to fail and that I would come in when they had a truck for me to drive. Made it clear that I was a contractor and used my truck as a truck every day. One week later they had a new ford waiting for me. I left with the rental before they even inspected my truck. I dont even know if they inspected my truck. Its been two months and I havent heard a word back from them. Im not really that unhappy racking up miles on someone else's vehicle for free. I do miss my Taco a lot though and my wife hates the Furd:(

My 2005 Tacoma was recently approved for frame replacement. rental vehicle was offered and toyota person stated that my vehicle insurance would be valid for the rental. I checked with my insurer and they 1st stated that there was a 45 day limit on insurance for the rental (could take 3-4 months for frame replacement). My insurer checked with home office and their reply was, 'since toyota elected to offer rental, my insurance would not be in force during the rental period and that it was up to toyota to pay for the rental and the rental insurance. Called dealer back and he was dumbfounded and I requested he call the corporate office. No reply.
The toyota dealer has 40+ trucks awaiting frame replacement. I wonder if all these customers are riding around in rental vehicles thinking they have insurance when they don't! I would strongly advise for everyone to check with insurance carrier about this.

Look at your receipt for the loaner, mine shows who the insurer is and it isnt my insurance, my understanding was that the loaner company was using their insurance in case of a claim... not my personal insurance.

So then why did the toyota dealer tell me that my insurance would be in force for the rental?

I've been wondering about the salvage title issue since I first heard about the frame replacements. As I said in my previous post, I think the frame replacement in my case probably exceeds the value of the truck. Anyone here already have a frame replacement done that heard back from their state DMV? Or has anyone run their VIN through Carfax after the work was done to see what it says?

Don't trust what Toyota says your insurance will cover. Call your agent.

It is possible that it depends on the frame replacement cost vs the blue book value (my truck has 250K so........)

I have a rider on my Auto Insurance that covers rental cars. The rental car places always give you that BS about being responsible for the downtime of a wrecked rental vehicle regardless (which is a racket), but if you look at your credit cards (in my case, Chase Visa), one of their card benefits covers that insurance aspect of renting a car. I always turn down all insurance coverage on rentals.

I purchased it one time but I asked the agent "if I return the remains of the car to you in a shoebox, is it covered?". He said "yes", so I bought it....lol

Jeff Foxworthy "smile at the agent and say,"yes I would!" because you have a ford fiesta that is about to see more air time than a 737"

I want to hear more on the possible salvage title after frame replacement. I may be trading for a Tacoma soon(waiting on the frame to be replaced) I'm not going to trade if it comes with a salvage title. Any more info on this?

When i got a SHORT TERM loaner from the Dealer (while they were inspecting), it was for sure on my insurance. i had to give em my card and everything.

But then when i got the LONG TERM loaner, it came from an outside company, and the insurance was on them. I never gave them my insurance info and the guy from the loaner company told me they were covering the insurance.

The plot thickens...I called the rental company (Enterprise in my area), he stated that he has numerous rentals out now to toyota customers and their private insurances are listed as the carrier. Not sure if these customers contacted their insurance companies to verify anything. And it still doesn't resolve the issue of (at least my carrier) having a 45 day limit.
Somebody has to be paying for this rental insurance, its not free.
