Just took the truck in for an oil change at the dealership ($10 off coupon) and I now have a new replacement frame on order. Looks like I'll be hanging on to my 2006 TRD double cab a little longer!

    Working on it
Just got approved for a new frame.

Anyone have any info on what exactly they replace along with the frame?

Might be nice to have them do a few upgrades while the have the frame off, just not sure what stuff would be good to do while they are doing the frame.

Will try and post some pics when I get it back...unfortunately I did not take any before pics but I think you guys know what that looks like.

    I just bought a Tacoma V6 4x4 2007.
At first,i thought it was only rust on the surface when i looked at it ,but i did nt look enough under the Tacoma to see and realise that it was way more serious.
As the owner also told me,ah,,,i am sure it is just some litte rust on the surface nothing serious!
Then i found out by a guy that has one ,and the same year as me and told that there are recalls!!
I call Toyota Canada, then i brought it down to my closest Dealer in town.
There was three recall on that year, the frame, gas pedal, and something with the seat bealts.
So they took pictures, etc etc, then told me the real bad news.
It s not only rusted but it has some holes because of the rust,so the frame needs a full replacement!
Now it has been close to five days that it was reported by that Dealer, still no OK from Canada Toyota!!
This Tacoma has turned into a nightmare,,i only had this truck for less then two weeks!
I hope that Toyota s recall and Toyota Canada don t let me down!
Me and my wife have had Toyotas for the last 25 years, and this is my first really bad experience!
The mechanics told me that it needed a full replacement...not to worry about it,,bla bla bla..
The Dealer is still waiting for the main house to decide my case!
I thought also that this dealer is nt very positive about ut,except his mechanic .
If I would have known ,or told that this was a defected frame,i would never have bought it.
Aparently i still have also now less then 30 days to put this into legal manner if Toyota turns me down on this.
Besides that it runs very well, and feels like a new one,it has under 100 thousand I was so proud and happy about this Tacoma, now i am really beginning to hate it,because of all that stress, and trouble that I am in!
A very desapointed customer of TACOMA!!

Not really sure what you're so upset about? This is a known Toyota issue going back to the first gens... I had my truck 6 months before I found out I was set for a new frame. Frankly, I'm excited about that, it will basically be a new truck. All the guys who have already had their frames replaced say it's the best their trucks have felt since new.

I bought the truck fully knowing how much rust was on the frame not expecting it to be perforated, but I was aware of a frame rot issue at the time of purchase. But again, I'm stoked to get a new frame, the list of other upgrades I want to do just keeps growing as I wait for the new frame before I do any mods (Lift, CAI, TRD exhaust, etc).

    Hi Sir
Well, surely i was nt very happy of all of this, but i got great news yesterday that Toyota will change everything that has to be done, the whole frame, etc etc.
So they did ordered all the parts and should takes about three weeks to a month apparently to be at the dealer.
Then they will set up an apointment to do the work.
So,,i a very happy that everything will be taken care of.
    Thanks
    Charlot

    Lucky you!!
I just bought a new to me 07 Double Cab LB 4X4 earlier this week that was from the North East part of the country that is in the recall(Massachusetts).
Frame quite rusted but does not "appear" to have any holes in it that I can see.
Called Toyota on the day I bought it and discussed with them and beings how I am not or the vehicle is no longer registered in a "Cold State"
(yeah right) they will no longer honor their recall with me.

I am considering trying to address the frame issue by having a body shop do a rust removal thing with it and then undercoat it as I really don't have any other options?
Really don't know what else to do at this point?

Stay with it, you most likely will have holes in the frame within the next two years. I will bet on it.

    None yet...
What no one has mentioned is that they do not cover the diff case. That rotted away on my '02 AFTER they did a frame swap. I sprayed it with that flex seal stuff and traded it for my '13. It's made it through one winter here in Mass. I'm meticulous about hosing off the undercarriage now. If this starts happening on the newer Tacos I'm gonna lose it.
Can anyone confirm the comment about the new frames rotting as well?!?!

I'm in the same boat you are! Toyota Corporate gave be the middle finger also. 06 DCLB 4x4 TRD was originally registered in NJ, now in SC. No longer covered according to them.
