Bring your torque wrench and check the lug nut torque.

I know, but still. I plan to check mine when I pick up my truck from the frame swap.

There was 1 TW member that had a wheel fall off as he left the dealership. There was another TW member that brought out his torque wrench. The SA saw him and said something like, "What, you don't trust us?". The 1st nut he checked was loose.

I had a plethora of complaints and am still having problems with my truck! Should’ve forgone the swap and took it to a weld shop and had it patched! Largest dealer in Southern WI!
Flat rate says 2 techs 40 hrs each. Mine was started Monday morning finished Wed. Afternoon. Been back numerous times to fix or correct things. What’s wrong with this picture?

I picked it up today. I made a list of what I could think of and what I saw breezing through 200 posts.
There was not one thing that had to be looked at. They even put a zip tie on the little cover that I cracked when I put the alternator in.
After 50 miles of driving I could not be happier.

I spent a few bucks and had some additional work done also. I’d say Stevenson Toyota in Golden did a great job.

Sorry to hear other people didn’t have same experience.

Maybe I spoke to soon about no issues. Today the airbag light came on. Do you think its related to the frame replacement or just coincidence?

    Hello All,

Just got my Taco back with a new frame. Took less than a month from approval to having the truck back. Zero issues with Carver Toyota in Columbus, Indiana. Despite having welded rocker guards and 5100's. Very easy process and I am super happy. Now to figure out how to use a paint gun with PQR-15. 20200623_183126.jpg

Dealer called and my frame is in, ready to drop off truck and start the replacement.

For other work to do while they are in there, here is the list I’ve come up with. Anything important missing?

    Waterpump
    cab bushings
    motor and trans mounts
    starter
    gas tank straps
    Steering Intermediate Shaft
Manual trans fluid/trans fluid drain plug
Front shocks/springs (already did rears and leaf packs)
    Power Steering Lines?
    Radiator hoses
    Thermostat
    tensioner and idler pullies

I had them do timing chain gasket.
I was going to rear main but they thought it looked good.

Some of that stuff you have listed you have to see if there is a big savings doing it now.
Also, you should get the OEM parts now so you have them. They will want to charge you more for them.
They wanted about 1000 just for the cab bushings and trans mount. I ended up getting them for just over 500.

They will want about 900 for the steering shaft. But you can get OEM for about 575.
I ordered what I needed from the dealers website. It was cheaper to order online and pick up then it was to go there and pick it up.

For steering intermediate shaft only, not the whole rack, it’s only $187 from Bosch Toyota South. I thought that was the main wear part. High pressure hoses would be 230 but I’m not going to so those.

Gas tank straps- if they actually are rusted out wouldn’t they have to get replaced by Toyota? Like if they crumble during frame replacement.

Not sure about the gas straps. They charged me for the rubber brake line hoses cause one was seized. They replaced all of them for 265. I probably could have bitched, but for a few hundred bucks Id rather have my truck put back together correctly. I spent an extra 2900 to have additional stuff. But I think its way worth it. For 10 yrs old my truck is still in great shape.

Yeah I guess I’m going to roll dice on tank straps, I’m up to $1300 in parts so far so that’s sort of my limit at this point for a truck this old. It’s kind of a roll of the dice about what could fail anyway, so I’m going for low-ish hanging fruit.

My thought is have them inspected upon removal and go from there. As one who had to replace a tank in an 11 year old car back in the day, it's a suck bag of a job to have to do by itself plus the old factor

My truck frame is being replaced this week! They let me bring in my own parts for some extra work and did some reasonable discounts on labor / charged no labor, for stuff I wanted. That said, their shop rate seems high at $145/hour but still getting lots of savings.

Hopefully it all comes together without issues. Meanwhile I’m in a rental - the truck they found was a Dodge Ram V8 Hemi.

    Hello all,

I have a few questions about the frame inspection/CRC coating. My DC has been in Vegas for the past 7 years (no rust). I just recently drove it back to Northern Virginia.

Will Toyota send something about getting the frame inspected/coated now that it is registered in VA? Or do I have to call them to start that process?

Correct me if I am wrong but Toyota will only cover the frame if they do the CRC coating?

I have a few cans of RP342 (Cosmoline) that I have, that I was going to use to coat the frame on my own. But if that voids the frame warranty from Toyota, I guess I won't be using it.

Got truck back and very pleased. Rides quieter than before, having replaced the front shocks and springs with 2015 takeoffs. Full list of extra stuff was:

    Waterpump
    cab bushings
    motor and trans mounts
    starter
Front shocks/springs (already did rears and leaf packs)
    Radiator hoses
    Thermostat
    tensioner and idler pullies
    Starter
    Tie rod ends
Tow hitch with used but way less rusty tow hitch

They replaced LCAs and said they said they replaced all rubber brake lines but not sure about that.
