I have not yet contacted Toyota Corp. I got really busy at work for the first couple months of the year and actually needed the truck to haul parts around and could afford to loose it for a week without having another pickup to replace it which the dealer said they would not loan me. I would have to get a camry or a Rav4 at the largest, which doesn't work for what I was doing at work.

I should contact corp, I'll try to make note of that, it's too late now to have the truck done for the 9th now though. So I'm already seeing which friends of mine will lend out one of their porsches for the wedding. I call the dealer every other week, as well as stopping in on the other weeks I don't call on my way to Napa. Always get the same answer "back order, we'll call you"

As I said before, I always said I would buy a DCSB to replace my AC when I start to have a family, but Toyota's lack of promise keeping has led me back into fast cars.

For the harness... I'll make one myself if I have to, it'd probably be quicker than waiting on one that will need fixing anyways.

Thanks for the heads up, I emailed them right after my last post, I'm going to give them a call at lunch time tomorrow if I don't hear anything in the next 24hrs.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Don't kid yourself. You not gonna prevent it.
I repainted my frame with $50 a gallon Industrial strength paint used on John Deer tractors. Crap rusted inside out and underneath that paint.
I poured two gallons of POR15 inside my frame to protect frame from rusting inside.
None of it help. I dont even drive that truck a lot in winter anymore.

I made a complaint to Toyota about reusing wiring harness, didn't get me anything.

Was quoted 2 weeks but it took 5 months until I got the call for replacement. Not a huge deal but I wish they had quoted a more realistic time-frame. I will say that showing up at the dealer to follow up made a frame "suddenly" arrive later that week. I wasn't impatient or pushy...I think in some cases they have so many to replace that they are focused on whoever is directly in front of them rather than how long you've waited (just my opinion of course.)

Was encouraged by dealer to buy struts as they would be installed for FREE with frame replacement. The dealer even said most guys bring them in rather than pay dealer prices (which made me feel like they were not trying to just upsell me.) I bought new Bilstein 4600s and dropped them off. I asked several times prior to dropping off the truck and was quoted that "EVERYTHING would be covered under the frame replacement except for E-brake cables if they are broken."

Got a call yesterday that the dealer wants me to pay labor for strut installation because I didn't bring in "loaded" struts with springs assembled. I reminded him that the rear has leaf springs and that sounds a bit odd? I asked them to proceed with old dirty original struts and I will install the new ones myself. They also want me to pay $500 for additional parts broken during frame replacement (not e-brake cables.) I reminded them that the "EVERYTHING" covers those items which were not broken when I drove in. Obviously not happy but trying to resolve before bashing the dealer.

Maybe your dealer should have been clearer with what was covered/not covered with regards to labor. My dealer told me up front if I brought in fully assembled strut/coils, labor to install them would be free, but would be an extra $300 if they had to assemble them. General rule of thumb would be that whatever they are going to do anyway (take out old strut assembly, put old strut assembly back as part of the frame swap) they will not charge you for, but any extra labor, is going to be at their labor rate.

    Pitcrew -

Had a similar experience as you (pg25 this thread).
I never asked they told me they would replace parts no labor charge. Wanted $800 for front wheel bearing, had it done for $350.
Asked to do shocks/struts was told no problem never installed.
When I picked it up gave me a list of parts they felt needed to be replaced. Bunch of BS!

I agree that lack of communication is the common thread for all the issues with my replacement. All of this could have easily been discussed at any time. I did push for clarification on the "what is covered/what is this going to cost me?" and got the same "Everything but e-brake cables."

My point on the shocks is that the rears do not have any springs so there nothing to assemble. The bolts like to seize on original rear shocks which forces you to cut the shaft and destroy the shock to remove it. This is why I assume they encourage you you to bring in new ones--makes their job easier if they don't need to save the old ones. $300 to swap the 2 front springs from old to new is absurd...unless labor rates are $600/hour for this 30 minute job...which would also be absurd.

Keep in mind that I wasn't asking for special treatment to replace my shocks at all. The service advisor was suggesting it as a FREE bonus if I wanted to purchase new struts. This was the same guy that I handed the Bilstein boxes (obviously just shock bodies from the thin boxes) off to a couple days later who commented on how nice they were.

If you were repeatedly told specifically that everything would be covered, then I agree. I would have held their feet to the fire on that. When he suggested the strut replacement, that would have been a perfect time to clarify that there would be extra labor involved in assembling them. I also agree that you shouldn't be responsible for any parts broken during the frame swap.

Got under my 07 Tacoma last week - CRC compound applied last December. Not convinced the CRC application will hold up for the long run. My 98 Tacoma frame rusted to the point it was unsafe to drive and was scraped before they announced the 95 to 00 recall - Toyota would not reimburse me even though my case was well documented.

At any rate, sold the 07 and bought a new truck (not Toyota and never again)!

I was just at the dealership and they are having problems on newer tundras, seqs, and highlanders with rust. I asked what these new frames behind the building were for and that's what they told me.

Well my frame just came in, it would have been 5 months on May 12th. They started on it yesterday, and the frame comes with the new 4 leaf pack. The two frames sitting behind their building were both for Tacoma's.

Got it back today! Everything seems great on it, I'm truly surprised how nice it rides compared to when I dropped it off. I think my lower ball joints were toast. Worth the wait! Installed new tail lights and a few other odds and ends this afternoon.
