UPDATE: My 06 frame replacement is completed. I didn't have to remove anything beforehand. They did it all. Removed the grill guard, my emergency lights and LED lightbar and reinstalled them. So far so good, the ride is better, the steering is better, all new gaskets in the exhaust and hangers, quieter. They had the truck for 7 days. No cost at all. I had them check my reliever hitch before reinstalling, no problems found. All new lines, rewired my hitch plug, they even rebalanced all my tires. A lot of new parts underneath there for a nine year old truck with 124000 miles on it. I should be good for another nine years. No complaints here.

That's for now at least. I still have wonder. Could they really be so dumb as to let it continue?

I took my '05 in yesterday and the frame will be replaced. It spent the first ten years of its life in AZ, but it truthfully did not look bad. It did, however, have a hole next to the driver's side catalytic converter.

I was concerned because the truck has rock sliders welded to the frame and is lifted with aftermarket suspension all around. I figured there might be an issue with the rocksliders voiding the recall because of the attachment to the frame, but the dealer said it's not a problem and they wouod actually remove them for me. Score!

They told me it would be two months and put me in a '14 DCSB OR loaner with 12k miles... Almost an upgrade! :) After reading through some of the horror stories here I feel I lucked out a bit. I'll update if anything changes

Since holes in the frame are part of the problem, does anyone make plugs (rubber, plastic) to help keep out salt etc...

I have to laugh at what dealers are telling some of you guys. More then likely you won't be getting your truck back until next year. Some have been waiting since November 2014. Hopefully they will honor what they say In regards to your sliders but I wouldn't hold my breath for a new frame before Christmas if I were you. Enjoy the 2014 though.

I did a search and found *5 pages* of threads JUST with 'frame rust' in the title!

This looks like a good one to add my name to...got my inspection letter this weekend. My app't to have them look at it is Saturday morn first thing. We'll see what happens. I think I'm OK, but Bad Things often follow me thinking, so I'll wait for the pros to look at it.

Looking to use Chassis Saver in clear on my new truck if/when I get it, on all components underneath (minus the obvious no-no's). How best to get it in the frame? Planning to get my body shop to do it. And Fluid Film every fall thereafter. Thoughts?

I got my letter for inspection mid December, had the inspection in January, the frame arrived early May, but I was gone with the truck until June 2nd. So they scheduled me for June 5th drop off. They gave me 2015 Rav-4 to drive. All in all I am happy with everything. I'm located in upstate NY. The real upstate!!

Finally got the call, and will be dropping my truck off next week. That will be close to 10 months since I got approved for the frame.

Knowing what we know now, with all the recalls, the frame issues, the leaf spring packs that still have not been fixed, I can't think of any reason that anyone would purchase a Tacoma. I don't follow the other manufactures, but I find it hard to believe that their offering is as plagued as what the Tacoma has been.

Depends where you live. My Tacoma as well as a friends have been fine. We both live in AZ. No rust issues.

Well my frame replacement came with the 4 leaf pack and they are quiet and smooth. I am very happy that Toyota would spend $15k on my 2005 truck, lets see GM or another company do that.

Well....Wow.... I thought my frame was 'good' since I didn't see any holes anywhere. I knew there was soft spot under the drivers door.

Just talked to the tech.... Looks like they found the soft spot and/or poked thru it. They're saying I need a new frame. Really wasn't expecting that..... They have to submit to Toyota for an Authorization Number

Question: You guys that have gone thru is.... Prior to getting an Authorization number from Toyota, has it already been confirmed that Toyota has approved it?

The good news is...I can pickup my truck and drive it until the frames come in. The Tech said they ordered a bunch of frames back in January and they should be coming in soon. ???? Yeah...OK.. Who the hell knows.... I hope one of them has my name on it.

I guess I'm glad they're thorough..... This might delay my plans of buying a 2016 in fall/spring. I'll wanna get some enjoyment out of this truck while its 'almost new'. LOL Or at least....a higher resale value when I sell it.

Have you pushed the issue? Made some phone calls?

If you haven't pushed the issue, you've probably fallen off the radar. You can't trust anyone to these types of logistics done probably without followup.
