So far getting water pump done at parts cost. But one thing bugging me is service rep. called and said front shocks must be replaced cause the top shock nut was seized? Why would they even take the struts apart? The struts should of been swapped over as an assembly in my thinking... Has anyone else had this happen?

Dropped mine off today with mixed feelings... 202K on the original clutch and still going strong, it feels like a crime to bring in a truck in for what is essentially a frame off restoration when it is perfect minus a single hole that could be cut out and welded back to perfect.

now if only I could find a source for the front left shock... I really wanted to move up to bilstein 4600's but the left front is backordered for the distant future.
I guess ill let them do the clutch too... save my self a bunch of cursing

I'd tell them that it's not me that wants to change the shock out - THEY do - due to a defective parts recall. If they insisted in not supplying the parts - I'd tell them to put in in writing - tell them to PROOF read the memo real real good then send/call Toyota corp ASAP.

Got my rig back today and all seems to be well. They greased and tighten bolt on the steering rack, put in a new fender liner and adjusted the hood. It looks and rides pretty damn good. I had just put 5100s all around a few months prior to dropping off for the frame so everything suspension wise is new. I will mention that they replaced all my fluids with exception to transmission, differentials and the engine oil. I did those when I got home minus the trans. Final bill was over 18 large. It's good to have her back in such great condition. This weekend I plan on cleaning the mass air flow sensor and the throttle body. Will also be installing my wet okoles. Things to do........so little time. They also fully evacuated and replaced all the freon which is another added bonus. Don't remember reading that anywhere else. They also replaced my dead battery with a brand new interstate at no charge. They hooked me up!

Hey rod,you should spend some time on your new frame to prevent or slow frame rust in the future.

I've got 3 cans of fluid film that I plan to use on it. Today is mass air sensor and throttle body. If I have time I'll install my wet okoles. Then the frame coating. Good advice!

Follow up the fluid film with a Toyota frame plug kit.
It will save most of the crap from going into the new frame.
By the way, what r u going to coat the frame with?

According to the literature those holes are already sealed. I'll check it out today though.

that's solid. was the 18K for just the frame or did that include the rental? i'm not surprised by the freon considering they would have to disconnect the condenser.

read somebody else got a battery too. i'm really hoping for that considering mine needs replacing. it'll be 10 years at thanksgiving.

Not sure as this info was on the dealers paperwork not mine. So far so good though. How much longer do you have 81?

Hey Rodney did they turn your brake rotors/drums? I took mine for spin around the dealership parking lot and after only 1 month of sitting it had considerable vibration when braking from them rusting up. The pistons were also starting to lock up and made a nice clunk when they broke free.

I doubt it but like I stated a few pages back my truck was driven every week for the last three months. I had recently install new drums in the rear and they were aftermarket and cause some vibration when braking. It's not so bad that I'm going to chuck them for oem just yet. The aftermarket ones must not be machined well. All in all I'm happy as a pig in shit with my truck. Have them address the issue with the brakes. If they balk go with corporate. If that fails have a lawyer send them a letter. That won't cost much, probably less than replacing your brakes and calipers.
