Just traded my Tacoma in on a '16 Tundra DC that's being built. They put me in a '15 F150 until it gets here as my inspection ran out this month.

They gave me $10,750 for my '05 with 155k miles.

Just had my 2007 regular cab inspected today and they said it needs a new frame. They said it would be after the first of the year before they would do it. They said they had 28 ahead of me. Hope they can get it done before the recall ends.

Since your in the books and been inspected you should be fine even if the recall("limited service bulletin") expired.

So the dealer called me and my frame is in. 3 month wait, not too bad.I needed the truck all summer anyhow. Bringing it in next week sometime.
Any suggestions as to what else I should have them change since there's no labor cost? I already ordered all four Bilstein shocks.
Have a new belt that I was planning to change too, so figure let them do it. What else ?

Why not order new front springs as well?

Wow...just got a call from my dealership. Frame & Parts are in.... my inspection was in June (I think, heck...I can't remember). October 22nd is the drop off..... said it'll take 5 days. I requested a truck for a rental ...but they mentioned a highlander. Hmmm....wonder if they'll have any 2016's on the lot? Inferno...access cab....sport...fully loaded?
LOL Kinda surprising...I wasn't expecting a call till late in the fall.

After a few hours' reading, I'm quite jealous of those of you who got the frame replacement. I just got my frame sprayed and the plug kit (more details in the frame recall CANADA thread) and they got overspray everywhere! All over the engine, belts, rims/tires, exhaust. Nothing was masked and I see no evidence of any prep. A week later the truck still stinks like burnt rubber. Unsure what to do but I really don't want to take it back to the same dealership.....

Is there anything I need to do before I give them the truck?
For instance - I have a console vault that I'm considering taking that out. I haven't looked but I don't know if that's attached to the body or a crossmember??

I also have a bullbar I should probably take off - which, will require me to disconnect my PIAA's.

when i took mine in they told me to remove anything i put on it basically. i removed my brush guard, my best top, my auxiliary lights AND all of the wiring, my CB antenna and wire, etc....

they said to remove it so they wouldn't be liable if they broke any of it basically.

Went in for broken leaf spring recall. Broke #3 of 4 on Driver's side last month, Dealer replacing those next week. Failed the Frame corrosion test too, so my best efforts to undercoat yearly since 2008 have still failed. Maybe by Xmas she'll have new bones.

Update: Spent some time on the phone with the next closest dealer, then took my truck there today. MUCH better experience. Was told they've only done a few frames, but they've never charged anyone for anything. Also quoted me a 2-3 month wait time for a frame, after saying 6 months on the phone last week? We'll see...

Turns out I didn't even get the plug kit. One round plug, and the rest of the holes were filled with foam.

I assume I'll be in the 6 months boat but the 3 months are encouraging for me. It would be interesting to correlate states/regions for the different time frames, but I'm lazy.

i'm going to have to make an appt to take my truck back to the dealer. i noticed a noise when i was driving through a tunnel yesterday. i never heard it any other time so it must not be too major. i definitely hear something rubbing on something it should not be.

I'm looking to purchase a 2006 access cab 2wd from a long time family friend (4cyl auto :( but a great deal). I noticed where the tailgate hooks (hinge?) to the bed was very rusty. Corrosive rusty not surface rust. I looked underneath and that "seems" mostly ok from what I recall except for a flaking spot right in front of the rear springs mount. It's spent it's whole life in South Carolina btw. I've been looking for a long time for a Tacoma with decent miles and under $10k (they don't exist). This only is $12k with 44k miles. I didn't realize these trucks had such a rust problem until after I looked the truck over and found many many things online about it. It does qualify for the frame inspection but how concerned should I be about buying it?

I work for a Lexus dealership and we have a Toyota dealership in our auto group. I just spoke with their service manager and was told since it's always been a southern car that I shouldn't really worry about buying it. I'll still go take it in for the frame inspection and the 2 or 3 recalls it's due for.

    None....... so far.
Received the call from the dealer this afternoon. I drop my truck off on Thursday afternoon. Just a bit over two months from failing my inspection to having the frame replaced.
While I'm happy it wasn't the 4 months I was told and to be honest, I was figuring on it being longer, I do feel for you guys that have been waiting for forever.

Up here in Ontario, I was told to expect to wait a year for my frame. 20+ others ahead of me. Only dealership for 600km...

Talk to me summer 2016 I guess?
