Who had small amounts of rust and still got a frame replacement or buyout?

Nobody. The basic rule seemed to be if you can put a hammer through your frame it is bad enough to be replaced.

Not quite sure I want to do that just yet... My west coast 2011 is getting orange underneath & on some of the spot welds on the sheet metal.

I'm sure if you look under any 4 year old old pickup truck (from any manufacturer) you'd see the same rust. If you saw how some of the 2005-2008 Tacoma frames were disintegrating, you wouldn't be asking about a frame replacement.

Toyota inspection document calls for a 10mm or bigger perforation to fail.

Man, I would be happy with that. I plan to have them put on the 5100 while it is there. Almost 100K miles so it is do.
My frame has been on order for 4 months. When I first took it in for inspection it passed. Set up appointment for the frame spry. When I took it in for the frame spray they said the frame failed inspection. That was all in a matter of 1 week. They have replaced my rear springs twice already, if they are OK probably will not replace them unless they break again.

Back shocks top mounts rust and need to be removed by a grinder...that is how they break.

Consider yourself lucky...I would far rather slice the top off a old shock than derust and manually remove. I consider shocks a disposible wear item.

Well I got my truck back today from the dealership. The frame was replaced. Took it in back in June and failed inspection and was unsafe to drive so I left it there. So I picked it up and they said they replaced a caliper for free seeing that they figured it locked up from sitting so long.

It's good. No vibration or sounds that shouldn't be there. I'm pretty happy with it. Now just wait on fluid film to arrive today to coat the frame before the county starts putting salt on the roads.

    Strange that you mentioned vibration?
My only little complaint would be that.
There has been a small vibration since i got my Tac back..
Not much, but i know it was nt there.
They have checked it,and said that they could nt find anything wrong!!
    What could it be?
Feels like a vibration, and even feel it in my gas pedal at times???????!!!!!

I had a slight vibration before I took my truck in for the frame recall from when I installed my lift. But when I got it back it was gone. I'm not really sure what it could be. There isn't any grinding sounds like a bad bearing would make.
