Hey guys. Went to the beach this weekend. Got home and washed all the sand and whatnot off the truck. My hose blasts a hole into the frame. I'm out of town for work. Hoping my local dealership cooperates with this. They asked for a VIN, which I don't have on me but, I thought this was pass fail inspection thing based on your state. Pass they spray you down and fail its frame replacement.

It is pass fail like that and yours fails, you will get a new frame. They probably want the vin to look up the year. Just in time too it ends in March. Now start praying that they don't try to hose you for thousands in stuff that breaks when they take it apart like some of these guys here.

I've looked around on here and saw some horror stories. Good to hear though that they will take care of the frame. I have a deployment coming up so its a good time to have my truck in the shop for an extended period. I won't be using it anyways.

@95ninety when you say clutch pedal start sensor do you mean the clutch cancel switch or the sensor in the pedal saying it is depressed? If the latter that is a relatively easy fix assuming it is a problem with the clutch switch assembly itself. If it's in the wiring that is not so easy.

I see that this thread is old, but my 2006 Tacoma 4x4 had the frame recall done, and I bought the truck from the dealer.
New frame, new shocks, new brake lines, new pads. All in all a good deal. Runs like a top, had 192k when I bought in July, now at 200k and climbing!

    Hey everyone,
So I'm getting the frame on my '07 inspected day after tomorrow. I've looked and I think my frame will pass but it still does have rust. The truck has 67000 miles on it. I've been told if it passes they send me on my way. After that I guess I'll figure out what to do next. Anything else I should ask/watch out for during this process? I've gotten a lot of good info from this thread already. Just want to be well informed when I go. Thanks!

If you think that it does nt need a frame change and it looks good,I don t see why they will do a frame change. Also that Tacoma has very low mileage, that is great.
When I realized that my Tacoma was one the bad frames, there was no much doubt in my mind that it was one because it was so rusted and flakes were falling from under the truck.
I could even peal some rust part with my fingers cause it was so bad.
You are lucky if your frame looks pretty good.
They do have procedures, and do some different test, and pictures sented to your Toyota Central, our bureau was in Toronto.
Then they decide,if it is a go,or not.
    All the best

"Been told" that by whom? What state are you in?

Any authorized participating Toyota dealership located in the cold climate states will inspect the condition of your vehicles frame. Based on the results of Toyota's inspection, If significant rust perforation is not found. Toyota will apply CRC to key areas of your vehicles frame at no charge to you..

I'm in Utah. Asked 2 different dealers what will be done if it passes. The response was "nothing". I asked about applying an undercoat and was told nope we don't do that. And I do have rust, just pretty sure I don't have any holes. However based on the rust I have doing nothing with it is not an option if it passes. Thanks for the responses!

Took mine in Monday, 30th at 8:00 AM and was there at 2:00 PM today, Tuesday and here's how it looked so far. I couldn't believe they were that far into doing the swap.

Which 2 dealers? I'm pretty sure the bulletin says they are supposed to coat the frame if it passes inspection. And FYI, the inspection isn't just visual. They go at it with a hammer.

    Treu.
If it passes the inspection, they are suppose to look into a good clean up and take some rust out before aplying that black stuff to help protecting the frame, and no charge.
I know a guy around here that had it done.
They said that his frame was find, and did that work on it.
    Good luck

I'm glad to see that they pulled your engine/trans, instead of leaving it in the body like I have seen some shops do in posts here. Please post up your experience; if the dealer charged you anything, or replaced anything not on the required list as a good-will gesture.

Me too. I asked the Dealer in Hebron how they handled the engine / trans before scheduling for the work to done. As can be seen they do it right and got the job. lol
I provided new upper control arms, front shock assemblies, rack bushings and inner / outer tie rods for them to change out. They told me they may charge me to change the tie rods which I'm ok with. I may go see where they're at this afternoon again.

Thanks, but I don't really think it's anything I've done. On the other hand I don't cowboy it off road and dunk it in mud or water holes.
