Mine has. That's why I waited 3 months. And I also know that the tech working on my truck has been at this particular dealership for several years. Does that make him competent? No, but he's done frame swaps and timing cover fixes so I have to trust that he'll do the right job. I got no problem driving around in my rental Crapolla for 3 weeks until they get me back my truck the way it's supposed to be running (I'm confident it'll be a lot sooner than that). Some of you know-it-alls really want to project your negative bullshit and get people riled up with you wisdom and incite. It's entertaining for sure. I'm simply chronicling my experience for the next guy or gal who may have to go through a similar situation.

Just curious, it takes 3 weeks for a swap? I thought others had had it done in several days.

Mine's been at the dealer for 5 days. It's probably going to depend on how busy the dealership is and how much additional work has to be done to the particular truck. I think the average time is a week.

Edit: I was told that Toyota is paying the dealership for 41 hours of work.

It is usually a five days job,if they work on it evry day from when they start.
That is what my Dealer does, once the truck comes in for the frame change, they do it in five days.
I lefted mind on a Friday morning, and I got t back the very next Friday.
    Regards

did anyone else have to pay out of pocket for the frame repair and then get reimbursed? The paperwork toyota is sending me seems to point in that direction (second section)

I believe that is referring to if you already had it done on your own. Like the people who got reimbursed after replacing their leafs.

@JeffreyB It's a problem with the sensor in the pedal. Works 1 out of 10 times when starting. I haven't messed with it yet, but what should I be looking for?

    Thanks

New frame, shocks and springs along with new OEM 4-leaf pack and AAL...

    image.jpg image.jpg

Looks like the timing cover leak hasn't been fixed yet. At least the engine isn't resting on an old tire anymore...

Saw 2 more Tacos up on the lifts getting frames replaced. Manager told me they've done over 2 dozen trucks.

Today is day 7, for anyone keeping track.

I would be looking at the lower clutch switch. They are about a $40 part. Unclip the wire harness from the old one, unscrew it, screw the new one in and clip it in. I have only done the upper switch so I don't know specifics, but it should be relatively easy.

When you pull in to the service center, they put a plastic cover on your seat and paper floor mat in... but they'll leave your engine open to the elements for days on end...

...by no means speak up, a.s.(s)

Are you paying for the timing cover leak to be fixed? If so what ball park, hoping to get mine fixed during the frame swap as well. Thanks.

$700 including a new water pump. They initially wanted $1200 but I said hell no. Haggled for 2 days to get the price down. I'm sure you can get them down even more if you're only doing the timing cover.

It's looking good! I'm sure it'll be fine when all is said and done!
It was good of Toyota to do the right thing with these bad frames.
That's a shitload of work to be doing on thousands of trucks.

Just got the call this morning, all my parts are in and they are starting the frame swap today. They said it would be done by Saturday. That would put it at four months almost to the day that I've been waiting. Here's to hoping they do a good job.
