I read most f your comments, and when they told me that my Tacoma ahd a really bad frame, and after I was accepted about a week later,i still drove it around for more then four months.
Strange that even so they knew that my frame was really bad, they still let me drove it around, saying that humm,it was dangerous, and so on...
I guess it was nice to have my Tacoma all that time instead of an old dirty Corolla they lended me.
How come such big Dealers just can t give you a descent car, when work of we as good client need a car while they keep our s in??
But,i still can not really complain because they were pretty good with me overhauled.

If I could offer advice on the rental part of the deal for anyone still waiting to take their truck in; Call and ask what kind of rental you will be given. Dealerships make a decent amount of money on this, I'm sure, so if you have a few dealerships around you, and you don't want to drive a Corolla around for months, this could be a determining factor for where you decide to have the swap completed.

I wouldn't be a happy camper if they held my truck for months without doing any work. I tow my boat any time the water is ice free and when my lures bounce on the ice it's usually snowing, then the Tacoma is even more fun.

image.jpg It's been about 18 months since I had my frame inspected and it was found to be ok and treated rather than replaced. I looked under there yesterday and the treatment that was applied is holding up nicely.
I found this in my glove compartment yesterday which prompted me to take a look.

Glad that your frame was OK.
I also know a fellow here in my town that had the same thing done to his Tacoma.
    Cheers

Well I picked my truck up this afternoon, every things seems to be fine. I drove it all over town this evening and the only thing I noticed was a steering wheel shimmy from 55-65 mph. Almost like a wheel is out of balance. That's about it right now. I'll drive it a lot more tomorrow and throughout the next week to see if anything else pops up. I know everyone that gets their truck back comment on what an improvement in ride quality there is but honestly I haven't driven the thing for four months and I've only owned it for eight, so I really don't remember how it rode. Seems like it rides really nice though. At this point, barring any craziness that hopefully will not occur I can give Haley Toyota in Midlothian VA a solid thumbs up.

Anyone know if Toyota would let me take my coilovers while they have the truck apart so I can turn my 5100s up a notch while they have the truck apart?

Sure Toyota will do it,but with extra,i am sure.
Last week they charged me 92 dollars to install one burned braking light and to instal the accessorie input that i alteady bought from them a few weeks back, but decided to have them to it.
I am not very good with mechanics, etc
Toyota always gave me great services, but the price is very high at times.

Finally dropped my truck off for the frame replacement yesterday. Service advisor said that the frames are coming in faster recently. About 3 1/2 months wait for me.
Was told they would start tearing it down Monday morning, and we're hoping to have it done by Thursday! 3-4 days of work seems pretty quick, makes me nervous they're rushing through it. Seems like they've done a few in the last couple months though.
Got a brand new 2016 silverado with 20 miles on it for my rental.

The crew at the local dealership is taking 2 days. They use 2 guys. I think after doing dozens of them, they are getting pretty good at it.

I got my recall notice and had my frame inspection done last week. The service dept. gave my frame a clean bill of health. They said they've only done one frame swap so far.

Yeah I was surprised. Better than a corolla I guess. They don't do loaners, just send you to Enterprise.

Just bought a 2009 Tacoma yesterday. New to toyota. New to the forum. Interested in this topic. I bought the truck from Toyota dealer in Youngstown, Ohio. I would assume they would be required to check do an inspection on the frame but when I asked about the leaf spring recal, of course the salesman were very uneducated and were not able to inform me wether it had be done or not. After my personal inspection I can clearly tell the leafs are newer than the rest of the underneath. I've read a few pages back and looks like some of you guys have gotten new frames on you're 08' trucks. I'm curious if I brought mine to another dealer what they might have to say. I wanted to undercoat my truck to protect it but I'd way rather have a fresh frame. Anybody think 09's may be due after another salty winter? All my welds on the frame have clear surface rust. Opinions?

I'm another unhappy Carrola rental driver. My truck was approved for a new frame on January 6 and it took a broken leaf spring a few days ago for my frame to magically be in stock. I stopped in to have my truck re-inspected in August and even though I handed them a ziplock bag full of frame chips I was assured that my truck was still safe to drive. So hopefully it won't go too bad. I was told that I can replace anything that comes off of the truck for the cost of the part (shocks etc) and it was suggested that I replace the front steering rack for my 2005. Is this something anyone else has done? I was also going to get a price on fixing the AC since it crapped out a year ago.

First off, If I ask a "Toyota Dealer" salesman a question like You asked (all recalls and Relevant TSB done?) and they say to me they do not know - I'd either ask for the Dealer manager/owner or walk. Nothing to me justifies a quick check of the vin on the web and a check on a lift. With that said. congrats on the Truck - Get it inspected at a dealer (perhaps another?) and enjoy your Ride !!!

As far as I know, 2009's and newer have not yet been included in the frame correction campaign. The last round was for 2005-2008. So for right now, they aren't doing anything for 2009 and newer. Who knows if they'll extend it. You'll find out right here if they do!

The leaf spring campaign was/is for 2005-2011. Your springs may have been replaced already under the recall.
