Thanks for the replies. I read back about 10 more pages on this thread and gained a lot more information. I did bother to check the leafs myself and it was very clear that they were much newer then the rest of the undercarriage parts. Carfax was confusing because back in 2014 there was a report for the truck being inspected for leaf failure and it did not get springs at that time(says the report). No other reports after that but the springs are undoubtably new.
As far as the frame goes it's in good shape as far as I was concerned for buying the truck. Price was right and I've heard toyotas reputation for fixing their faults. Plus I've got a few dealers closer to home that I know many friends have been happy dealing with(not where I bought at).
Just wanted to get insight before I go under mine tonight and do some frame protection of my own vs. being qualified for a free under cation from dealer. I'll still give a call today with my vin. Thanks all

    Hi Mike
You asked for suggestion of parts to be replaced, well a 2005 certainly needs new shocks,it s time to do and save the labor which is not cheap to replace the four shocks.
I waited about six months to replace mind instead of doing it when they replaced my frame.
Though I asked them, how were my shocks, aparently they were ok,which i was nt sure if they were telling the truth.
Anyways,i would have saved the labor on those shock s installation.
Do it if you can afford them.
    My regards
    Charly

dime size hole in frame but it is cancerous and recommend frame replacement 2-3 months for a new frame to come in and up to a week for rebuild

You can go to Toyota's web site and check your vin there for recalls....

Interesting how CarFuks (I do not trust them for accuracy at all .... JMO) Picked that up. Surely it had to be reported by someone. Either the Dealer or Corporate since it was a serious issue ????

Got my truck back last week and so far no problems. Drove it about a week before we left to visit our daughter in Tenn. It will sit at th airport until we get back. While they were flipping the frame I had them replace the shocks/struts, serpetine belt, emergency brake cables. Was worried about the after market parts not working, but so far new problems? The dealer was good about replacing anything that was bad and not part of the warranty. They replaced the wiring harness running from my backup camera to my radio and the front splash guards. Thumbs up to the dealer.

took a 2K mile christmas trip. nothing fell off or blew up.

for those driving corolla's. call the dealer and tell them you bought a truck and you need a truck... if they blow you off, contact corp. they get it there.

for those wondering what has been done to their used truck... go to http://www.toyota.com/owners/ set up an account and punch in your in VIN. you can see everything a toyota dealer has ever done to your vehicle

That Toyota site is basically useless. Set up account and no info on my Tacoma, or Prius. Bought the Tacoma certified from a dealer, pretty hard to believe no records of that. Also no records of the Prius getting oil changes [company car] don't make fun.

Perhaps none of the maintenance was ever completed at a Toyota dealership, that is the information that the Toyota site has on record.

Man this is amazing. I'm looking at a truck that is out of state so I'd have to fly and drive it back. Was worried about frame rust but that Toyota site's service records show it's been checked for frame rust perforation twice this year and it was good to go. Everything has been done at a dealer too. If the pre purchase inspection comes back it's time to book a flight :)

    Day 14
Emailed the service agent handling my truck and received the following response:
"Good Morning. The truck is coming along very well. I have the cab back on as of this morning. I am expecting the truck done by Tomorrow afternoon. After that we will test drive it to ensure everything is perfect. As long as I have no set back I will be in touch tomorrow to confirm with you."

We got some sleet and snow last night. I was afraid the Crapolla wouldn't make it up my steep driveway but it did with no problem. I was impressed by the traction. :woot:

Hey folks from up in balmy Canada (NOTE: it's -12c/10F) My Tacoma is in for frame replacement starting today. I asked about whether the plug kit was included, and they seemed mystified about it. Parts guy said "well there's body plugs but we'd have to order them individually". My understanding was that there's a 28 plug kit to be installed with the new frame. Anyone have a part number for the kit? Thanks.

I just got the call that Toyota has my new frame. Looks like I'll be spending the next several rainy days taking all the extra wiring and other odds and ends off my truck..Excited yet not excited..
