11 years? I'm shooting for 20. ......that's why I bought a Toyota. That....like....."run forever" thing. What do they call it? Oh year, a 'reputation'! But I figure if this new frame is being put on at a little over 9 years old (early 2006) then 20 should be a piece of cake. I'd rather spend my money on my KTM and 65 Mustang !

When it rots out this time I'll push it out back for AR practice...hehehe......

My 2003 frame was scaling badly but it only qualified for the frame spray. I had it done before I traded it in for my new 2012. My Dad's 2004 got the spray done too but it has long since "washed" off. Totally useless method of protecting a frame. I don't know what he can do about it now.

    Hey hartford & pdr.
This is the first ive heard of the internal frame treatment.
So it sounds like they r using a wax based treatment for inside the frame.
This is not a bad treatment method, but heat & time leave parts of the inside exposed, esp. At the cats/exhaust point.
I like the fluid film once a year internally. Anyone else?
    And no,i dont sell it.

I wish I knew about the frame problems Toyota had in the past before I bought mine, because I would of used Fluid film from day one. I washed my truck so much, they thought my frame was from the south, when they inspected it, but I would have liked to get a new frame, so I don't have to worry about a perforated frame in the future.

I took my 06 in today for the under spray and just got a call from the toyota dealership. He said the frame had one spot by the passenger front wheel that went all the way through. He told me new frame, brake lines, lower control arms and leaf springs will all be complimentary

Just gotta call from the Toyota dealer. They're going to replace the frame on my 2006 Tacoma. Put it on the rack before I took in in and couldn't find anything, but they found a hole and are going to replace the frame. Kinda sucks, but pretty pleased on an 8 year old truck, they don't just say f you.

yes. I believe all that is standard with the frame replacement and is part of the installation kit although I don't know that for certain.

It would certainly be a bad day if your frame broke when wheeling or driving on a freeway or towing something!

The day I brought my former 2003 in for the spray service they just finished explaining to another customer that they could not legally allow him to drive his truck off the dealership property because his 2004 frame was separated at multiple points due to severe corrosion. They would only let him drive it if he signed a waiver. He opted for the free rental of a new Tundra and the frame replacement. He only had plans to get an oil change! He had no idea there was a TSB or recall on Tacoma frames!

I took my 06 in for frame inspection and the found one small hole, got the ok for frame replacement which will be here in March 2015. I asked a bunch of questions about what will be replaced. My biggest concern is my receiver hitch. They couldn't tell me what would happen there and would get an answer for me. The dealership here is very good and haven't tried anything funny (at least with me) since I have been dealing with them. My question is, has anyone had the their frame replaced, what happened with their receiver hitch.

Our 2005 is going in Feb'15 for a new frame, Have any of you guys done any prep before you took your truck in for replacement? I'm thinking things like removing lights and lightbars, unwiring radios(+antennas?), I saw someone saying they were taking off their canopy before it went in?!

probably not a bad idea considering the truck is literally taken apart down to the frame, (ie., the whole body is removed). Wouldn't want any special items to "walk" away or get damaged during the process.

I'm thinking since there are some many combinations of accessories that you should at least disconnect wiring and other things that will be easy for a tech who only knows the Tacoma stock stuff. An aftermarket receiver is probably not a big deal. For a lift I'd have a conversation with the techs.

Another conversation to have is will they replace items you provide like shocks. It would probably save them a few bolts to remove and save you the time to do it yourself if you would...or the labor if you wouldn't.

Brought my truck in yesterday for the frame inspection. The truck failed and I was told it isn't save to drive. The worst part is that my new frame won't be in for 3-4mo! Looks like I'm going to get really familiar with this 2014 tundra.

quick question, related to this recall. i have a 1998 tacoma, that doesnt look as bad as your guys sound. BUT, i am in the middle of doing other work on it and noticed that i have several things rusted through that you explained on the frame.... like the oil pan. checked the recall website and mine isnt listed. does this recall go back that far and if so would they even touch the truck at this point???

I was hoping they would replace my hitch receiver but no dice. They just re-attached the old rusty one.
