Hopefully you come out ahead with the new frame and a truck that'll last you many years.

It is possible that the PO did not know. There are many people here getting new frames that had no idea that their frames were bad. Your truck will be worth more with a new frame, new brake lines, etc., etc. Most people have their frames replaced with no issues. The PO probably could have sold the truck for more if they would have had the frame replaced before you bought it!

Nah, most frame are rotted out by the cats. It takes longer to put it up on the lift than it does to put a hammer through it.

If your truck is eligible, do it. I had my '06 Taco TRD done at Gusweiler Toyota in Washington Court House OH, just west of Columbus. Took a master mechanic 3 days, came back in perfect condition. They lift the bed off, then the cab, then r/r everything else on a new frame. Includes UCA's, front end stuff, rear springs, tons of new fasteners, wiring harnesses, brake lines, spare tire carrier, more. I also had new Bilsteins installed. They only charged for the shocks, since they had to r/r anyway. It's a brand new truck. I saw the bill they turned in to Toyota, 21000.00.

    Hi y'all
Got my frame inspection done in Dyersburg, ten Wednesday.
They were excellent folks and went the extra mile to earn my trust.
They Let me be present while they inspected my frame. At first they didn't find anything. But then did the inspection again where I asked for it to be hit with the hammer.
Second place the hammer went straight through. Told me I needed a frame.
They conferred among themselves for a few minutes to figure out the "logistics" so to speak on where when and how to do it.
They ended up sending me to Jackson . The Dyersburg dealer is a small outfit and they admitted they didn't have the staff or facilities to do a frame swap.
Overall they earned my trust and would definitely recommend them to folks.
Staff is very knowledgable and friendly as well as not afraid to admit when it's over their head.
They had never seen a rotten frame before and took pictures for Toyota as well as to show their other techs what they are looking for.
The staff called ahead to Jackson to let them know I was coming and they validated Dyersburgs finding and filled out the paperwork and let me keep the truck till my frame comes in.
They were very friendly and professional as well as knowledgeable.
Told me to call once a week or so and they will give me updates if needed.

Looks like you'll be qualifying for a new frame. Mine is approved and has a hole in the same spot on the passenger side (appx 3"x1"). The rear leafs, brake lines, and LCA's should be included.

Got my '06 back from frame replacement today. It was a long process, almost 11 months altogether. 214,000 miles & a $13,000 repair at no charge. I can't complain. No other manufacturer would do this. Plus I drove a 2016 Tundra for 5 weeks.

Long time tw reader, first post.
I brought my 05 in for inspection in December. Frame failed with flying colors and dealer said the new frame would arrive in 10-12 months.

I have rear airbags that I installed. Should I take them off before bringing her in? Wouldn't be too happy if they just chopped them off and said the hardwear was "seized."

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
If you can remove them, you are better off. Some dealers are great some dealers are horrible. I would try to remove them if you plannign to keep them.

I cruised the Thompson lot today to see how many where waiting in the back for replacement. I saw about 8-10 Tacomas. Some of frames looked bad, others not so bad.

Picked up my Taco this afternoon after frame replacement, took 7 days from the time I dropped it off. Didn't really get to go over it as it got dark, but did notice I have the 3 +1 leaf springs. Originally I had 2 +1. Sits higher with new bilstein 5100s all around and sets fairly level at .85. Huge improvement in tightness of steering & handling with a new rack. Everything works, so I'll check it in daylight to see if there is anything to be concerned with. Driving it home felt similar to driving the '16 Taco 4x4 loaner I had. I'll know more in the coming days.

Had my truck back for about 2 weeks now. So far, so good. The dealership that did the work seems to be taking the minimalist approach. No extra work on top of the parts supplied by Toyota unless I specifically asked. I had them throw on new 5100's, and asked them to install steering rack bushings I provided. They declined on the bushings, said it would wreck the rack to get the old ones out. I also asked them to replace front brake pads, and they found seized calipers while doing it. So Toyota picked up the bill for calipers and pads.

I drove my truck while waiting for the frame, on their recommendation. Took 3.5 months for everything to come in. Turned my truck in on a Saturday, they started pulling it apart Monday afternoon, and it was done by midday Wednesday.

Two tiny problems so far. I noticed that one license plate light was missing when I picked the truck up. They had me drive right in to the service bay and fixed it right then. The other, that I just noticed today while driving by my parked truck at work: I'm missing the big factory tow hook on the passenger side front. Was definitely there when I gave them the truck. Have to call them about that I guess.

This was Larry H Miller Toyota in salt lake. Seems like they're starting to bust these frames out. There was one other discarded frame in a pile with mine. And they were receiving 6 new frames when I picked mine up, and said two more were arriving the next day.

It doesn't feel like driving a brand new truck like some others have experienced, but overall I'm happy with it.

Dropped my truck off at my local dealer for the "inspection" hopefully the inspection will reveal the broken leaf spring and a rusted frame. From the pile of 5 new frames and 3 discarded in the rear lot a few have failed the inspection.
