haha yea sorry, I think I actually have posted in this thread once before, but it could have been another one with similar topic. Its too bad theres can be so much confusion, the recall is actually really straight forward and great work for dealerships. Obviously most owners don't mind too much either haha

I understand to a point. I just took mine in and hope they take the time to remove my shocks. I don't need the delay of breaking them, getting approval and ordering aftermarket shocks.. Mine hasn't gone on the rack yet so we'll see how things go.
I did leave a Coke in the console so I hope the tech isn't a Pepsi guy.

Fair enough, Toyota replaces with OEM so shouldn't be that much of a delay. Good luck!

See it's comments like that they worry me. I have an Old Man Emu lift with Old Man Emu shocks. If they cut them off they will be replacing them with Old Man Emu.

My rear shock top bolts were replaced, but the shocks themselves were not replaced.

Please explain. 2nd gen "rear shock top bolts" are welded to the shock, not seperate.

There is a lot of crooked dealers out there. When my 2006 frame was replaced, right at the beginning they told me, Toyota covers everything and not to worry that I would not pay anything to get the frame replaced. 9 months later and I had a new frame, and did not pay a cent for any work they did. I originally took the trick in for an oil change when they told me the frame was toast.
They did try to charge me to troubleshoot the airbag light and TPS system not working. I explained to them that they were working fine when I brought the truck in, and they went ahead and fixed it at no charge as they should have.

Also some dealers for the sake of speed "breaking parts" because it is too time consuming to remove them properly should pay for all damaged parts.

That's, IMO, the way it should be. And as you stated they get well paid by Corp. Any Idea why Some dealer are so inept, ill informed, and just plain nasty? (among other things ...)

Had mine replaced on my 06. Talked the dealer into installing my 4" rough country lift I had purchased when they put it back together.

My truck has been sitting at the dealer since the first week of November. I've been reading this thread to see what parts typically get replaced so I can plan what to bring them when the frame finally arrives. Yesterday I called to see if they could give me a list of the parts they had ordered. The service rep sounded perplexed. I asked if they replace the control arms. He said "hold on a minute" and went to ask someone. He came back and said they replace the lower control arms. I asked "what about the uppers?" He said "they have coil-overs so there's no upper control arm". Now I'm worried...

The service reps generally have no fucking clue about anything. I refuse to talk to anyone but the service manager or techs.

The rep I talked to yesterday said 1-4 days on my truck and it wasn't even in the shop.

Looks like it was just the nut replaced, not the bolt.

To you guys who had your frames replaced years ago is there any sign of new rust anywhere on the new frames?

This is the exact point I was trying to make; that not all shocks are being replaced. I noticed the new hardware but my shocks were not replaced.

This is my guess.... Previously posted (way back) a couple users posted the entire repair bill for the frame swap w/ all parts and labor listed. I do not remember seeing Rear shocks listed. However, the recent post by the newbie service tech (Welcome by the way 1) stated they will replace parts damaged in the frame swap.

So I believe both of you are correct ... they will swap the shock at n/c - but only if they have to .... If they use the original shock a new/different nut my be used ...

Just back from inspection and the frame failed! They didn't want me to drive it off the lot but I wanted to process it for a day. They'll get me a loaner vehicle but must have my truck for them to pay for the loaner. I hate to leave it unattended for 4-6 months but for safety I guess I have to!
I know it's been mentioned time and time again, however, does someone have a list or link recommending what to change while the vehicle is apart. The dealer already suggested front struts, rear shocks, new rotors, possibly calipers and parking brake cables - total price for these around $1,900.00. Feel like I'm being prepped for a shafting!
