I don't think it will make a difference whether you trade it now, or wait until the frame is replaced. It's going to get a new frame before it gets sold to the next party. And they will be buying an 8 year old truck with a brand new frame. That's a positive selling point. I can't say with 100% certainty, but I wouldn't think book value will be affected one way or another. Talk to your dealer.

Was told 3-6 months to get my frame, only ended up being 2. Just picked it up today and everything seems good so far, kinda wish they washed it though. Oh well.

For anybody in Pittsburgh, I went to North Hills Toyota and they were good to deal with. Baierl blew me off when I tried them.

    Chillax, mang.

If you stay with your truck, it will drive like a new truck again. if you unload it, you should get whatever the book value is.

    Your good either way.

So today my check engine light came on. I'm bringing my 05 in tomorrow to have this checked out, but after having the truck back for less than a week I have no 4WD and a check engine light on. Hmm...not liking this.

From searching other threads it seems like the light is most likely an o2 sensor. Is that a likely diagnosis here too?

So, it's been about a month and ~4,000 miles since my frame was replaced. Today on my drive home my CEL comes on, and a couple seconds later the 3 lights below that also come on (I think they are vsc off, trac off, and abs, but can't remember for sure). Code shows P0430. My question is: is there any way something with the frame replacement didn't get put back together right and caused this?

My truck has been sitting at the dealer since the beginning of November, and they called yesterday and asked if I wanted to sell it to them or trade it in, they would be willing to sit on it for the next couple of months while they wait for the frame to come in. They offered me 15k for trade in, which i actually think is pretty fair for an 06 with 130k miles, I am not going to do it because financially it doesn't make sense right now, plus I am pretty attached to my truck, but if it was paid off I probably would have taken it.

I dropped off my tacoma on Oct 22, 2015, DCH Toyota in Freehold. Being garage kept and with only 63k miles on it, I thought it'd be in and out. Didn't even get a loaner car. A few hours later I get the call that it needs a frame replacement, rust and a hole big enough to put a fist through and not safe for me to drive. I was flabbergasted, truly flabbergasted. Since it couldn't be driven, they would expedite the frame, and said it should come in in 2 months or so.

Dec 26th it was ready and I picked it up Dec 28th. I drove it 2 (two) MILES probably not even up to 40mph, and heard a bang, felt a big jolt like someone rear-ended me making a slow right turn on a rural street. Even made me instinctively look behind, no other cars around. The check engine light was on. I called the shop and bought it the 2 miles back.

Dealer looked at it, said the code error was for the left rear speed sensor, said they found no problems, said the light reset itself and they test drove it 22 miles.

I picked it up on Sat, Jan 2 2016, it did not act right, sometimes it would accelerate normally, others I'd have to push the gas almost all the way for it to slowly accelerate. Felt dangerous pulling into traffic, not knowing if it would accelerate normally or crawl up to speed. Check engine light came on with 2 hours of driving. I called Monday Jan 4, made appt for Tues Jan 5 when a loaner was available and dropped truck off again.

Received a call 2 days later. Not frame replacement related, harness within the transmission, "you have to remove the trans pan, its inside the wire harness which is inside the trans", nothing to do with the frame, "coincidental that it happened after doing frame repair". Need to order parts, wire harness and housing, and some terminals. With parts and labor, roughly $1,217 + tax.

2 MILES…. i drove 2 miles, coincidental after 63k problem free miles, it happened the 2 miles after the frame replacement…..

It was escalated to a Case Manager at Toyota Customer Assistance Center 1-888-270-9371, they are totally worthless. Spent so much time on hold and repeating story. And all they do is call the dealer and listen to what they say. "they are our eyes and ears". They could give me no additional information, just repeated what the dealer said.

Yup, you were right! After spending most of the day at the dealership I was told, "they pinched a grounding wire." The sales rep also said they replaced 4" of wire and that there would be no charge.

The check engine light was an o2 sensor. Coincidence?

I took my truck in November 19 and received notice today that my frame is IN! Woo hoooo! They are waiting on a few other parts that should be in Monday, so I should have my truck back in a week :fingerscrossed: Good timing too, yesterday someone rear ended me in my rental :( That person was then rear ended, hitting me a second time. :facepalm:I gotta say, a Rav4 can take a hard hit and suffer little noticeable damage.

ha... if you are going to be in an accident.. might as well be a rental with somebody else at fault (assuming they have insurance). sure beats having an accident a week after picking up your truck

true.. insurance money is always a nice bonus. i've picked up a couple of grand from cars smacking my bumper and fenders... guessing that's why the dealer ran a carfax before doing my frame

I can understand that the Dealer may want to know of and damage that my affect the "standard" replacement cost of the new frame, or anything that may affect the current or later cost to the dealer (i.e. Cargo box will not fit new frame, Hacked up/repaired wiring harnesses, Poor previous repair workmanship or missed items in accident.. This May cost the Dealer more $'s to fix/Fit/align/parts and may be the cause of post frame replacement issues (as in wiring issues from prior damage, cracked transmission case/bolts/bent, etc.).

But are you saying they would not replace the frame with a prior accident ??? Or am I mis reading ...

They replaced mine. I just thought it was interesting that they ran a carfax. But to be fair, both rear fenders have dents, as does the rear bumper.
