So I'm looking at a 2005 Tacoma dcab 4X4 V6 to purchase. Truck has been in Southern California it's whole life. Do I need to worry about frame rust? Or is that only in certain areas? I assume that a certain amount of light rusty is normal? Lastly, if the frame rust becomes bad enough, does Toyota replace it without hassle? Thanks guys!

I'd still check it out for rust. I bought my '01 in AZ and although it doesn't have any frame rust due to the frame being replaced, but it has a dot or two of rust on the body. I'd still check under the truck just in case. It could be an expensive lesson otherwise.

Rust really isn't an issue in So Cal but it doesn't hurt to at least take a few minutes to crawl underneath and look. I could be mistaken but I don't think the frame replacement applies to trucks around here? Anyhow, I'd be shocked if the truck had a rust issue unless the previous owners parked it right next to the beach and never washed it
