Where are you seeing this? I don’t see metal delaminating. I see the edge of a weld and a flake of rust…

The areas circled in orange look "swelled", especially at the edges ( compared to the rest of the thickness of the frame material) The orange squiggles look like debris got jammed in between the riveted frame rails and started to corrode, which caused the flaring. Without seeing it in person on your truck, I'm just going by other vehicle frames that I've seen ( and owned) that had the same type of damage from corrosion.

See if you can use a pick or something and clear out the debris that's in between the frame layers and see if it really has started to corrode. The last pic that you posted shows some bad corrosion at the flange/bend in the frame metal. Whatever type of "under coating" the PO used it's trapping the moisture and helping the rust to form faster. That's what rubberized "undercoating" does, as opposed to something like POR15 or a chemical neutralizer/converter does.

Mine is worse. I bought it that way, used. I believe it's sound enough to support the rear of the truck and the light loads I haul, so I soaked the rust with Gibb's Oil and a bit of 3M Cavity Wax.
Spray oil on it, WD40, etc. Any kind of oil and defer the rust for many years. :)

You can order a 6 pack of aerosol cans on Amazon that come with an extension nozzle for hard to reach areas.
    6 should be enough.

Not exactly true. Oil in and by itself is only marginally effective against corrosion. Oil with corrosion inhibitors in it (as Fluid Film and the others do) is much more effective. On a related note, oil (with or without corrosion inhibitors) is much more effective at preventing corrosion form starting than it is at stopping corrosion once it has started. Sadly, stopping corrosion is much harder than preventing it.

If you want my recommendation on that frame, I really like Fluid Film and similar products, but all of them go on as somewhat of a gel. To truly get some corrosion resistant product in between those sandwiched frame sections, run down to your friendly local marine supply store or marina. Ask them for a can of aerosol Fogging Oil. This is oil with corrosion inhibitors in a spray can. It's used to prevent corrosion over the winter in carbureted marine engines. You simply spray it down the throat of the carburetor while the engine is running and it coats the intake manifold, combustion chambers and exhaust system. Why use this? Because it comes out as a liquid and will seep down into tight spaces. Use the Fluid Film on all exposed surfaces and the Fogging Oil in all of the really tight spaces.

C'mon guys; that frame will outlast the rest of the vehicle unless he "only drives it to church on Sunday". Yeah, it's not like new, but unless you get a used truck that never left the desert, you're not going to do better. I'm in TN and mine is 50X worse.

...the first and the last. ....i'd scrape those areas, and including in the crevice where delaminated, and treat the rust asap, and including deep in to that crevice, and then follow up with an appropriate undercoating as described above. ....that first one looks like it's covering something possibly more sinister....

The first one I wire wheeled the rust then painted it it’s solid tested it with a hammer.

Lowe's sells it right on the shelf in-store year round with the rest of the sprays and oils. It's kind of thick liquid sprays when it comes out of the can and gets drawn into the lamination's. It bubbles for a few seconds and finishes as a light coating that lasts quite a while and never seems to really dry. If you crawl under the truck and your nice shirt rubs on the frame it will get ruined never wash out. It seems to gradually/slowly wear away on surfaces from rain and dust, etc. until it is ready to do in late fall again the next year. Good stuff. Run your truck through an under-body was before you spray it. Wear an old shirt while applying it.

Thank you, I already applied it a week ago and figured out that it ruins clothes.

Buy a tyvek painting suit and some thin rubber disposable gloves. Use it and put it in a small box for next time. I just toss my suit in a gallon freezer bag and toss it on a shelf in the garage.

Take a heat gun,get that rubberized coating hot and scrape it off. Has this truck spent it's whole life in Aizona?
