I am installing some frame sliders here in the next week and wanted to run 4 6-8" led white strips one for each door so they shined down on the steps. I wanted them to come on with the dome. So i found the slot 9 the blue wire in the fuse panel behind the coin tray. So i wire those 4 together and wire the negative ends to the blue wire. then a positive from the battery to the positive side of the leds. Does that mean that it grounds back up through the dome light? But wouldnt the lights have to be after the dimmer not before if the power is coming from the battery?

Maybe post some pics of what your trying to setup? That might help answer some questions.

i just dont get the wiring to the dome light mod. I need some one that has done the interior lights or dome light mod before to chime in. Could i run power to a relay then to the lights and have it come on with the dome light?

OR would it be best to tap into the dome power and run it to a relay which will be open with the power from the door. Then just power from the battery to the relay and lights.

if i remember correctly, the blue wire is the ground side of the dome light circuit. this particular ground wire is controlled by the body control module. will only be activated when triggered by a door or remote lock/unlock. i know LED's are of low amperage but you still may want to use a relay and have pin 85 tied into the blue wire to trigger the relay. +12 volts to pin 86.

I didn't use a relay and my lights have been working flawlessly ever since. I used a 3A fuse for the positive wire that goes to the led strips.

I ran strips all the way down my rocker panel after I saw Deeez setup. Constant power and switched ground. I don't think you need a relay for this. I believe relays are for using a smaller switch to control a heavy load. But I think the ground is good enough for the LEDs since it's not carrying a much heavier load. You may want to switch out your dome bulb to LEDs to free up some of the circuit draw too.
