This. Been through it with my 10 and it was reframed, as well as knowing someone who waited 2 months out of the first date and was dead in the water

So you knew someone that Taco was 2 months too old so they would not replace the frame?

Just checked VIN with dealer and they said it expired in Jan. 2019. In door jam says truck was manufactured in 2006.

All that means is that it wasnt sold / placed in service until Jan 07.

Build date is not the defining criteria.

12 years from being placed in service is the criteria.

Your math isn’t very good. Jan 2019 is 12 years from when the truck was first put in service in Jan 2007.

This. Doesn't matter how long it was in transit, on the lot, etc. Matters when it first entered its intended use.

Mine was Sept 2009 (2010 model). I discovered 2 holes on the passenger side April 2021..one was 1x2 inches (pics in my media). I had received the first inspection and CRC in the required timeframe so I got a new frame.

Mine is 2007 model but was manufactured in 06. but 2007+12 =2019 which it is now 2022 so Im 3 years late :/

ABA180 are you implying that because your inspections were done within the window that your frame was eligible for replacement?
Because if thats how it works then how can dealer say mine is out of date because mine was inspected for frame corrosion 4 years ago.

Yes but you had to get both inspections in that 12 years. The initial where they fail it or pass/apply coating is the key, that gets you the second inspection but that also has to be done in the 12 years. Regardless of the first, you didn't get the second in the 12 years and therefore aren't eligible.

Yea i do not remember them telling me about a 2nd inspection at all. Nor did they apply the coating they just said it passed the inspection. Now the question is if they did not inform of a 2nd inspection is it my responsibility to know about it or not, also are they required to give me any documents explaining there is a 2nd inspection and what that involves.

Good question. I happened to know the details of the situation from reading on here so I am not sure what paperwork would have said. Might not be a bad thing to take up with corporate if they never coated it.

I just had the 1st inspection/treatment done to my 2013. The service advisor was a little ignorant of the details of the extended warranty process. If had hadn’t dug in for concrete answers I wouldn’t have been informed to bring it in again….I think this is precisely why many out of factory warranty trucks miss the deadline. No longer visiting the dealership for maintenance and never informed there was one final step that needed to be taken.

So if you had the inspection and the coating are you supposed to get another inspection?

how could they pass this guy on his inspection and not apply coating and his frame is toast a few years later ?

YES! Before the end of the 12 years from the date first put into use you need to have another inspection. Sounds like the various frame rust abatement treatments Toyota has/is applying aren’t having much impact but aside from that, the program runs out this month and, if you haven’t had the treatment applied, your SOL on the frame warranty (even if within the 12 year period). I believe Toyota will inspect the frame annually if you’re still under warranty.

Couldn’t tell you your date of first use - you can look it up. Toyota will check it out annually for 12 years after that date and replace if perforations are found assuming you’ve had the treatment applied.

March 2015 put into service. So I’ll put it in my calendar to take it in 2026. Frame looks great right now and I’m in salt country.

what I don’t get is how the OP got an inspection, they didn’t feel it necessary to apply coating or advise him to return before 12 years and a few yrs later his frame was toast
