Just got my 15’ back from the stealership. Not very impressed with the undercoating job. 0482121F-A17D-45E4-841C-D203463B4A73.jpg

If your in a cold weather state you should be doing your own preventative maintenance like fluid film/woolwax or Krown.

I guess I expected more coverage for 2 days at the dealership. I’ll be taking care of it myself from now on.

The dealer just puts the Krispy Kreme coating on the frame inside, at certain spots. You still should coat the exterior frame every yr. if you live where they use salt.

From what I've seen the dealerships doing, they coat the inside of the frame rails with WAY too much nasty, frothy stuff.

As said above, plenty of products to spray on at home that will serve you better and make your truck last, leave the dealer dummies drift whenever possible

Yep, they only do the inside of the frame. I’m painting with Eastwood Plus paint then I’m using WoolWax over that.

I’m glad they treated the inside of the frame but I thought it would be obvious to treat the outside. I’m not going to bitch too much, Toyota has had a good history of taking care of the problem.... not like Jeep.

I get mine done in a month. Hopefully they do a better job. Once they get done I will be testing out a 2 part epoxy from PPG paints. The epoxy is rust and chemical resistant for structural steel and tanks. My factory skid plate is jacked up so I can do some testing this weekend. So far I just have one kit of matte black but I also could easily spray a urethane clear top coat for extra protection.

I live in New Hampshire and they love salting the roads here for better or worse. I got a new frame on my 07' in 2016, I've got some surface rust on the welds like the OP but this year I am definitely getting the fluid film. I've touched up areas in the past on my old frame with undercoat/bedliner spray cans but it only lasts about a year up here.

My question is, is there a good rust mitigator for brake and suspension components? If you saw my most recent post, my calipers have rusted so bad they look like a dark orange coral reef.

Lol (I know what you mean) I would wire brush them really good (or replace them) and paint them with a high temp paint

I hit my frame with fluid film whenever I’m under the truck. Debating if I’m even gonna take it to dealer.

If your “undercoat” was done under the most recent recall, they are doing the inside of the frame so it won’t be visible. Your service advisor should have made that clear when you dropped it off.

If you don't, your frame will not be covered for the 12 year period it will if you do get it done. To me, it's a complete no-brainer. Take it in and be covered.

Yea...not much communication... I was only told from what I read from the bulletin that was mailed to me.
