Still amazed they did not remedy this with the third generation.

The frame coating is crap. I am sure the vendor is following specifications from Toyota, can’t blame Dana Corporation

My brother-in-law just got a letter for his 2015 but I have not gotten one for my 2017z. I’ve fluid filmed my truck and it seems to be holding up after 2 MD winters. They salt the hell out of the roads and also use the Brine solution so the worst of both.

Got my letter, and it appears as the OP photo of the facebook share. I've attached mine as a PDF for clarity, but affects certain states up to 2017, and is only a notification of a pending campaign. When campaign is initiated, as I understand it, a separate notice will be issued. I had the same thing done to my 03 tundra. Brought it in, it was inspected, if inspection showed no significant structural issues with rust in the frame, they applied the CRC and that was it. If something is found, then they will replace the frame, all under warranty.

What was the date you bought your truck? I have not received a letter yet. Bought mine 1/29/2018.

I bought mine on 2 January 2017, which is the "Date of first use" they go by (12 years is the when the "coverage" is offered).

So has anyone with an undercoated frame (Line-X, krown, ziebart, fluid film, etc) taken this to a dealer to see if that affects anything?

So, being military, what happens to me if I am moved to a "cold state" after the "2 years customers are notified"?

Anybody have insight in that situation? Currently live in Texas, but who knows where I will be sent next.

Sounds like Canada is not included in any of this yet, even though a lot of areas use the salt, sand and brine. My last Toyota dissolved beneath me all while operating flawlessly. I knew about rustproofing but considered it too late to bother at the time. I’ve since taken oil rustproofing (rubberized coatings are worse than nothing) very seriously. Frames can go from surface rust to fist- sized holes in just a couple winters. Once your gas tank straps rot and break it’s a good sign you are on borrowed time. By then, most of the skid plates will have turned to dust too. My dad has a 2012 Tacoma and has never gotten any notice about this, nor have I for my 2018 yet (as expected) Both are getting Krown oil spray next week.

I didn't get a letter, but got a call from the dealer asking me to come in so they could inspect the frame. They said they won't have the product to fix the issue until late Nov/early Dec, so it wasnt a rush to get in for inspection. They also offered a free tire rotation and multi point inspection.

Does anyone have their hands on the written Toyota procedure yet for this 3rd gen frame cleaning and CRC coating work? If so please post here so we can read it over before we decide whether to proceed. I want the 12 year coverage, and I may ask to perform an inspection after rust removal but before CRC application.

The letter everyone is discussing has been posted elsewhere here in multiple locations. The letter was sent to affected owners to notify them of a campaign that hasn't started yet. The instruction is that if you currently have a frame corrosion problem, they will address it, otherwise, another notice will be sent when the campaign actually starts and then the vehicle will be inspected, and if the frame is corroded, they will replace it, otherwise they will coat it. The 12 years is from date of first use, so it really doesn't matter.

Not sure, but I would not understand the logic if you didn't, especially since it should not matter where you purchased, if the defect was across a vehicle category in general.

I was so surprised not seeing MO on the list. Last winter, my first winter in STL MO, was so so brutal omg!

And this winter is supposed to be worse. I was shocked to see MO left off the list as well.

Is there is a way to appeal this?
