Im with you on this and others concern about CRC. Toyota applied CRC on my first gen 15 year warranty 15yrs 6 mo later frame failed inspection and I do rinse/wash after the infrequent brined roads. CRC and fluid film or wool wax fresh water rinse and repeat.

My neighbor got his letter last week. First time he visited in 15 years but saw me welding under my gen1 this summer. I told him he was welcome to borrow my welder in 15 years, I wont print his response. I am QUEEN BITCH and I know it.

Yes it is real. I just talked my dealer and confirmed it. My vehicle is appartently not part of the support campaign however. Does anyone know if the 2014 regular cabs are affected? Mine was made in the san antonio plant, and i was wondering if it may be that it is a former commercial vehicle that it is not involved and toyota doesnt think those would make a big enough difference. Anyone who has a 2014 regular cab, let me know where your truck was made and if it is subject to the campaign.

Ut sucks because your truck is literally rusting away at a crazy fast pace. This was with out anything applied to the frame. If you plan on keeping her for the long haul I'd start the day you bring her home and start rust proofing

This is my 2016 after 4 years and 72,000 miles of Pa/MD salted roads. Knowing the prior issues with Tacoma frames I spend a little maintenance time on the undercarriage. Once a year Fluid Film and regular cleaning.IMG_20190916_174942941.jpg IMG_20190916_174909239.jpg IMG_20190916_175016402.jpg IMG_20190916_174959191.jpg

Am I reading this correctly the frame will be covered for 12 years from "DATE OF FIRST USE" so my 2014 will only receive only 5-7 additional years of coverage depending on when I take it in during the 2 year availability of this CRC application?

The internet can confirm any opinion, but, in general, Fords have good frame coatings, and Tacoma’s frames are notorious rust-buckets. There are exceptions I’m sure. What I guess is 50% of all fluid film sold is to Tacoma owners, and the other half to 4Runner owners. I love my Toyota, but the frame paint is shit-sandwich.

How do they plan to apply crc to a fluid filmed frame?

Because, obviously I did the correct thing fluid filming due to Tacoma previous gens rusting and rot. They best not opt out of the 12 year warranty if they state they cannot apply the CrC due to fluid film!

Rubberized undercoatings are crap. They will eventually chip and loosen around the chip, giving water/salt a point of entry under the coating. You
won't notice the rust under the coating until the metal starts to fail underneath.

I'd suggest that anyone who gets the coating "fix" done also do your own application of a lanolin or oil based product.

Smells to me like Toyota knows these frames will likely be a part of a frame recall as well.
Doing damage control in addition to possibly reducing vehicles under frame warranty due to the need for CRC to keep it valid. Like stocklocker noted, tacomas are notorious for frame rust.

Exacty. But with the rubberized crc still in place, it still will trap salt water. Less chance with a layer of fluid film over it, but this rubberized band aid is beyond ridiculous.

Toyota dealership: Ok, thank you for buying this new Tacoma!

....now can we sell you an additional undercoating after you just spent $36k?

Toyota 2 years later: Ok, we need you to come in to have CRC sprayed on your frame for free.

I agree. That black snot Toyota sprayed during the last campaign accelerated the rusting. Hopefully this time out they use something that isn’t a rubbery layer over the rust.
