I was curious as to how a bumper and winch pull capacity relate to what a truck's frame can actually handle. Setting aside the notion of using blocks to reduce actual load on the winch, and assuming you had to do a straight pull, can Taco frames handle a 12K# pull without distorting or breaking the frame bolts where the bumper attaches?

Just curious. Will be adding a semi-hidden bumper with either Evo 8S or 10S to my 2014 TRD Off Road double cab shortly.

    Thanks.

^If you mean the 6 studs the stock aluminum crash bar attaches, no, they can't handle a 12,000 lb pull. The flange will simply bend. That area is designed to handle pushing loads a typical bumper would see.

Thanks - this is useful to know. I remember when I had a Disco II with ARB bumper, the bumper mounted via bolts through the frame, as opposed to linear bolts at the end of the frame.

Make sure the winch cradle or bumper you get has other frame attachment points, usually gussetted L-brackets that tie further back to the frame, either on the side or on the bottom (using the sway bar bolts).

Example of C4 Fab's reinforcement bracket:

Note it will interfere with remote reservoir mounts for most popular coilovers, so some custom cutting/clearancing will be required.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
The real question is the frame in Good Shape? The metal will yield the bolts might stretch before they break.

Most times the winch will stall before you can pull the truck apart .

Lots of things will play into recovery i have yet to pull a winch off the truck despite years of trying.
