If anything let’s see if he’s driving a new vehicle with 76k in mods, maybe do some photography of his residence, vehicle(s) and document a few things for the court. Easy to do some private investigating without causing trouble over green paper..

Respectfully disagree. He should have paid ME $15000 to do 'no work', then he'd have saved $61000. Bargain.

What most likely happened is the shop owner was over his head, to many projects that didn't make a lot of money (or lost money) and then ended up filing bankruptcy. If the shop owner has an LLC, you can sue the company....but like others have stated if the shop is financially ruined.

1 man small business... this is pretty much what likely happened. Shady for sure.

Quick question - if the guy is still operating, what does hge have in his shop tools / equipment-wise? If you can find a lawyer who'll work on contingency (most likely 1/3 plus expenses), it might be worth pursuing a judgement with an eye towards taking all his stuff and selling it off for cash. It's not like he has the cash to lawyer up and drag it out.

Just a thought... or maybe I just watched too much of "Suits" on Netflix

 

Hahaha. Suits a great show!! He’s got some good expensive machines in his shop for sure. Tubing bender, Tubing notcher, TIG and MIG welding machines, plasma cutting table. Thanks for the suggestion

 

Yep... that's as far as i got. Too bad it happened... probably won't make that mistake again lol.

 

What did he say in person when you came to collect your parts frame and cab?

 

Be first in line lawsuit time, be last and there won't be anything left. You KNOW he's done it multiple times. Also, look to see if he's on probation, if he is, see what you can do to get it revoked. Talk to his PO and maybe the DA.

 

He just kept saying that he couldn’t talk about anything other than me getting all my stuff out. He said “that’s all I’m allowed to say”. And then he got really confrontational with me and threatened to “knock me out” after I told him that he still had 120 feet of tubing that he didn’t give me back.

 

Was he a big guy? I mean thats pretty ballsy of him. I feel like you have a cool head or he was 6’10

Main point is losing 76k is not something your just like whatever over. You gotta try and get your money back somehow. Even if you only recoup a third of it thats 25k
