OP, this is 76k you're talking about. I understand entirely that you didn't come to TW looking for advice, and only want to warn the community so someone else doesn't get screwed. But trust me when I say this, I'm on the 6th season of Suits, so I know what I'm talking about. Abandon this website, and don't show the enemy your hand. This case is obviously bigger than him vs you and he's already indicated someone has him by the balls. I love a good friday thread as much as the others, but this sounds like a recipe for losing to someone with more money/influence than you.

My post is obviously mostly a joke for anyone who can't see that; but seriously, 76k is worth staying off social media until it all passes. He's been instructed not to speak to you, he's very obviously already set something in motion to protect himself. This is going to be a long and hard-fought case - do what you need to do and tell us afterwards. We support you.

 

I doubt this has anything to do with organized crime, a years worth of time isn't their MO. They engage and disappear, they don't interact with the victim for a year and maintain a shop for this purpose, too many opportunities to get nailed in one way or another. It took over a year for this and criminals rarely devote a year to a scam involving a single person. THis is just a low life that's in over his head and decided the OP it the guy he needs to screw over. $75K is more money then most people see at one time and it's very tempting to someone in financial difficulty or to a lowlife.

To the OP, sorry this happened to you. My only recommendation is protect yourself, that much $$ is very tempting to the wrong types. I think the "instruction" not to talk is total BS, just a way to avoid the confrontation. Ask for his lawyer's name so you know where to send the lawsuit.

 

2nd this ask who his lawyer is, tell them your lawsuit is on its way!
