It's not going to hurt your re-sale value. Sure its going to narrow the market of people that are willing to buy the vehicle, but I use the word "narrow" lightly, because its going to make the vehicle much easier to sell to someone who's looking for one thats already been invested in.

Now on that note, (and you probably aren't) but don't look at this lift as an investment. You're not going to see much of the money you spend on the lift come back. if the identical truck to yours is for sale with stock suspension, you'd be lucky to get $1k more than the other guy. and that's only if you find someone specifically looking for a lifted tacoma, otherwise hope for $500 extra. All that being said...

Lift it, fat chicks can't jump!

Don't do business with 4WP. They have horrible customer service. And, nobody there knows two shits about anything. But, if you decide to do business with them, make sure you have everything in writing. Don't trust what they tell you.

This is the warning. Don't make me say "I told you so"

Too many horror stories about 4WP stores...the one where I live I wouldn't take any vehicle to. Every time I've been in that place I come out wondering why I bother. They don't know squat about what they sell, they never have anything in stock, and I wouldn't trust them to install a rear view mirror, much less a lift on any vehicle I own.

I'm sure it depends on the location. I would try to hunt down some customers who have had installs done at that store before you pull the trigger on a $1500 job from 4WP

Well guys, tell me if this isn't some horseshit.

Two days ago, on 9/13/10, 4wheelpartsonline had the lift for $1404 shipped... which I was going to use as a price match...

Then I make this posting, and magically, that day, their lift kit goes back up to exactly what 4wp is selling theirs for, to the penny... back up to $1561...

So yesterday I call the dude at 4wheelonline and he tells me "tough shit."

That coupled with the horror stories I am hearing, and the lack of customer service I received on the first note from 4WP, I think I am going to just pass this up and wait it out for a better opportunity.

I will get a lift on my truck (proly pro-comp 6") but it wont be now...

Even with their $500 coupon, the way they are charging me, it's only a minimal savings.... ($1561... + $125 remaining install, + $100 alignment = $1786)

There is another shop here in town who tells me he does it $1950 aligned out the door, all day long, everyday price... He was nice, and chatted with me for 40 minutes about different options and why I would like one size of tire for this reason and that reason, and when i would need to re-gear here and there...

Thx for all your help and input, but this doesn't seem like the timing or the best deal for me.

Since somebody is obviously reading this from 4wp and/or 4wheelonline, maybe you guys can take a lesson from us TW members and pony up on your customer appreciation.

Wise decision IMO. After dealing with a company like that recently online, I would have been miles ahead, albeit not monetarily, if I had gone through a local company that cost more for a product I needed, but had excellent customer relations. The internet company I saved money through has yet to make good after a month of waiting...

When you decide to go ahead with the lift, don't let money saved be the deciding factor. Confidence in the shop doing the work would be number one, and if you can work out a deal to your liking, so much the better.

That ad for $1,405 is still there, go to this link for it.

    http://4wheelonline.com/addMapPop.aspx?productID=242044

Or you can go to the one you posted up and view in cart.

Sounds to me like you could get the stage 1 from 4 wheel parts for about $1,950 TOTAL at 10% tax.

IMO that's not that bad a deal, if you can get that in writing first. Although they could always pull crap anyway. I wasn't able to print that $1,405 price though. I'm try copy/paste. I'm not sure 4 wheel parts would except it because it's like a pop up thing and doesnt have the companies name anywhere on it.

I've been thinking of what I'm going to be doing to my truck in the next month or maybe before the end of Sept. LOL. For that price it's really tempting for me to pay 2 grand, instead of paying 1 grand for coilovers cranked out to 3".

I'm getting sick of seeing bone stock Tacomas that look like they are the same damn height as me. Was at the gas station today and I swear the chicks bone stock Tacoma looked the same height. The angle had something to do with it but the 3" Revtek ain't doing it for me no more. Besides it's sagged to about 2.5" lift now anyway LOL. was goig to ask her if I could park next to her to check puaha.

The biggest thing holding me back from doing the 6" basic is I don't want to run 17"+ wheels. More specifically spend money on another set of wheels. I know of at least one guy that had a fabtech or procomp with his factory 16 wheels and he used 1.25 wheel spacer but he didn't know the backspacing of the factory wheels, so I'm not sure if my 16" wheels with 4" of backspacing would work or not because of some knuckle thing they flip. I wish I could find pics of somebodies 6" lift and this knuckle thing and know the BS'ing of their wheels. I suppose I could buy two 1.25" spidertrax spacers and use those on the front, till I'm ready to replace my tires in december. Then I could get the correct 17" wheels.

Anyway I want the basic on mine, but right after it's installed, I would order coilovers, maybe kings but $1,600, probablly not, probablly ICONS or maybe cheap out and use the Pro comps. I want the basic installed, so if/when I need to have the coilvers serviced, I can pull them out myself and throw the crap spacer in, so I'm not without a vehicle for 6 weeks while they rebuild them. I would also get the Pro Comp traction bars, so the block don't snap shit.

SHIT this is turning into a damn novel..

    Later

EDIT: Ohh just had me an idear

Mine was lifted at 4wp in redondo. never a problem with the lift. Only issue I had was them sending the wrong rims. But they took care of me.

i had mine lifted with a pro comp 6" stage 1 at 4WP on the same deal a few months ago. they did a good job and and problems i did have they addressed and fix with no arguments at all. it must be a location thing. im happy with my lift and even bought the coil overs about a month or so after i had my lift installed.

Oppps. I was going to make a call Friday morning and do the lift but now it see I'm a day late. Figures.

I was quoted like $1,950 out the door for the basic. I thought Friday was the last day for the deal. I was putting it off because I was trying to decide if I wanted to use Spidertrax 1.25" spacers so I can hang onto my 16" wheels, then upgrade to 17's in a few months when I get new tires.

So much for that idea. LOL
