I installed these 5100's on my truck about 10k miles ago.

They coils are defective, I have finally confirmed the springs were the cause of the metal on metal banging sound when traveling over speed humps.

This the noise the OEM coils were making since day one.

    Struts good, springs bad.

Anyone in the Ft. Lauderdale area that needs / wants the struts they are free to pickup.

Ok just wondering bc I have the 5100s too but I’ve had 2 different springs (headstrong and now eibach) and I get a click/clunk noise sometimes when going over speed bumps or intersections with dips in them. Also seems like it’s more pronounced with lateral forces being exerted on the wheel like turning onto a street or hwy with a decent water runoff dip.
Just saw your post and recognized a similar issue but never sure what it was

Not sure about you aftermarket springs making a metal-on-metal noise.
The metal-on-metal noise in my truck was LOUD, loud enough that my neighbors knew I was on the street due to the noise.
After countless hours under my truck and finally using a professional listen device I was able to confirm the OEM springs were defective.

Just think, I replaced the perfectly good OEM struts with the 5100's and still had the noise. Looking back, I should have replaced the entire assembly, would have saved myself a lot of time, money and effort.

Yeah, I'm experiencing a similar issue....Bilstein 5100's and OME 885's(if I recall correctly), and I have a noticeable metal-on-metal clunking most times that I pull out of my driveway with a little speed, or pass over any speed bump(pretty much). Interesting.

I've trying to hunt down a video that someone posted, probably two years ago clearly showing his Tacoma traveling over a speed hump complete with metal snapping sound.

If you find it link it because I think I might have that problem myself and am looking to possibly replacing my front shocks to see if it gets fixed

Literally made me go insane trying to track down that noise.

    Finally, the noise is gone!

So that’s pretty close to what mine sounds like too. Not quite that pronounced but maybe it’s muffled by the cab. Mines usu. more in regards to a deep compression like dip crossing an Intersection. Not just a speedbump. but if it’s the spring or coilover combination, what exactly is hitting? I’ve tried looking. I have even changed springs(not bc of noise but bc of weight) and it’s still there. But I can’t see anywhere on anything that is metal on metal or anything like that.
