Manny, I say just go down to 265's like you wanted too. Leave the truck as is. Then get a trail rig. Buy one for like $1500 and then slowly put money into that.

I've thought about just returning the truck back to stock and just buying a separate trail rig while still keeping my 09 Taco, the thing is I really don't use the truck as a truck. All I really need is something with a tow hitch and some room to throw some vacation luggage in. I tow a few times a yr and use my bed only because our Tacos back seat is soo small. Given that, any roomy SUV would work well. Additionally, it's still A ways away, but Id like to start a family and my taco, IMO, is too small for that. My doesn't really like the taco either, so getting something we'd both like , plus a trail rig That I canfreely Beat up on, would really work out.

If we Can get a decent deal on a 4runner, were gonna take it and run.

I'm sorry Manny to hear about your Taco. However, you have to do what you have to do. ITs starting to seem as if your new TACO is becoming a money pit. Its never good to see a new Vehicle break and suffer damage.

I'd tell Paul the same thing but he lives in a different Life Bracket then the majority of us.

Hope you get an older TACO and remain apart of us. Even when you get that new 4Runner.

I just think you should keep it and tone down the mods you have on it. You'll lose a lot of money on it and spend more on a newer 4Runner.

The money lost between selling and upgrading could buy you a very nice weekend warrior.

Its crazy how life influences your choices as you grow. I remember just months ago you were ready to drop $$$ on a complete Long Travel. Then it started to just diminish away with time.

These are reasons why I can't afford to go Off-Roading anymore. I've already replaced damaged parts and also had my Taco in the body shop for 3 weeks. I'm well over that now.

    Good Luck with Everything.

Make sure you have a very nice story ready when calling Toyota.

They're looking to hear certain words or phrases to either Help or Void your warranty. Just be careful.

Alright for those who want to hear exactly what happened, here it goes:

Prior to this trip, as some of you may have read, I had been having some issues with something in the driveline on my truck (not exactly sure what it was, I now assume it was my diff). I decided to go anyways cuz Im a badass like that.

We did Lytle Creek for a little but it didnt turn out that great. It was a little fireroad that went up into the mountains. We eventually ran into some snow where everyone got stuck and worked to get out. After a couple people called it a night, Ruler, JD Keller, MountainMan, & me decided to do Cleghorn. We headed over to Cleghorn and headed up. We made it up to the radio tower where I turned my locker and went up that rock side. My truck was doing fine with no isssues. We proceeded upwards to the first bypass.

[For those who have been there before this is the point where the road first begins to split. We took the right most bypass that can only be accomplished by baddass trucks like mine]

I began climbing the first part with no issues (JD was leading). JD tried making it up the first steep hill but, like always, he failed and took the side route. Ruler followed JD but Im gangsta and was not about to lose to a hill that Ive made it up before. I turned the locker on again and pushed up the hill and was close to the top before I lost traction after I let off the gas, and had to back down (truck was still fine at this point). I backed down to a flat area and again pushed upwards but this time, halfway up the climb, it felt like my rear was bouncing (almost like wheel hop ?) and I knew something had gone wrong. I stopped and started backing down in reverse and the diff/tranny was making a nasty ass whining noise and my truck would shake and clunk about every 10 feet.

Ruler heard my ugly ass truck screaming to be let down and asked what was going on, and I used my PA to let them know my truck was being a bitch and broke. When I got to the bottom of the bypass I realized that D, 4, 3, 2, & 1 would no longer move my truck and reverse was out too. I put it in Neutral and started rolling off the rocks down back to the flatter area. My truck stopped so Ruler & JDkeller had to push me a little and I rolled to the flat area where the roads split (about 100yrds). At this point my truck is fucked and we're just trying to figure out how the fuck Im gonna get back down the mountain.

[the mountain isnt all downhill. It has rolling hills so my truck couldnt roll all the way down]

I gave my recovery tow hitch to John and we strappped up and he went to town on my truck [what a queer]. LOL. He pulled me for a little before the washouts took over the road and he couldnt get enought traction to pull me up one of the small hills. Ruler & MountainMan & joseph had to push my truck with their hands while John pulled with his truck and I made it up the hill. I rolled down a good part of the mountain to the staging area with my truck on and in neutral but the diff was still under friction and wouldnt roll smoothly. It clanked and shook the whole way down. John had to stop and reverse multiple times to get me up the small hills that my truck didnt have enougjh momentum to get up. When at the bottom the tow truck took an hour to get to me. I brought it home and its been sitting there since. When the tow truck driver dropped me off he helped me push the truck into my parking spot at the complex I live at. We got it in the spot and I put it in park, and it rolled a good 10 ft back! Not even Park stops my truck! I had to move this weekend so Ive been really busy but Im hoping to pick up a stock set of tires/wheels soon and drop the truck off under warranty this week. Hopefully all goes well.

Thanks JDKeller, Joseph, MountainMan, & Ruler for all your guys help that night, I really appreciate it!

I love your thoughts - It's not your truck - It's your willingness to step on that skinny pedal!!! :D

    Sorry for your loss!

PM me if you want to roll with my OEM wheels and tires.
