No, someone who hangs out on a forum that has nothing to do with it other than talk smack, is a troll.

I had a pro4x. Traded it in for a Tacoma within a year. not a bad truck, but the seating sucks, and the rear seat backs are nearly vertical. I'm 6'0" btw. But I did like the metal bed with factory bedliner, and the beefy aluminum tie down rails. Good brakes, strong engine, and fully boxed frame.

Just my 2 cents, but it's worth less now, and will probably be worth less when you want out of it too. One thing no one can take away from tacomas, they do hold their resell value. There very few vehicles that you can buy, drive for several years and get most of your money back on. This doesn't apply to me, since I seldom sell any of mine and drive them for 15 years or so.. but for others this can be huge. Or like Trump would say ... "UGE"

Anywho, OP need not worry about a Tacoma dying after 5 years. There are some Debbie Downers out there.

If you want a Frontier it's probably best to go used, that way some of the depreciation has already happened. I strongly considered one before buying my Tacoma, but never went and drove one. I do think the interior of the Taco looks nicer, something about the seats in the Frontier looks strange to me.

    OP;
Nissan makes a fine product. I owned several of the older 'hardbody' style of trucks and an early Frontier and they all were perfectly functional. The brand new ones I can't say for certain.

However, the majority of reviews that I have seen on them have pointed out that they are louder and cruder both on road and off, with a rougher ride, higher road noise, and lower fuel economy. It might be enough to sway you, it may not. My advice is to test drive them both on a variety of roads (including a lousy, bumpy back road, if you can find one close to the dealership) and see which truck you like best.

    $.02

The lighter challenges like hitting a tree driving it through a building, sure. But I challenge you to find a vehicle sold in the US that would survive being staked out during high tide and then washed over the edge of the ramp, spending the rest of high tide on it's side, underwater. And then once it's dried out, set the cab on fire.

If you put a vehicle through the same litany of 'tests' that Top Gear did, and it survives, then I'll agree with you. :notsure:

I'm gonna help you out because you are my friend and I can see that you are struggling to comprehend.

I added to the discussion posted by OP talking about the hilux kill video that I felt the video was bogus. I then backed up my point of view with an example. This is called participating in a discussion.... On a public discussion site....

You on the other hand have wasted everyone's time because you are butt hurt that someone doesn't agree with your point of view and felt like attacking for no reason.

You have effectively managed to do exactly what you tried to scold someone else for doing.

But again, we are friends and I will help you find the light

    Hope this helped =)

I dunno man, there is nothing special about a Toyota that helps it being on its side underwater. Wires are wires. Maybe because it was an old model and probably didn't have much for electronics.

There is 0 chance that any current vehicle out there today could survive it, Toyota or not

This is true. I lost a lot of money when I traded in my less than one year old frontier for the taco.

Oh, absolutely the only reason it survived was because it was an older model without complicated electronics. But I think that even an old mechanical Cummins 5.9 (one of the simplest, most reliable diesels ever sold in the US) would have a difficult time with that. Not because it was made in the US, necessarily, but like you said. Wires are wires and they don't like salt water (or fire).

Is name calling part of the rules here?? Just because we don't have Toyota blinders on doesn't make us trolls. I haven't said one thing that has not been posted on these forums These trucks are nothing special. I never knew there were so many problems with these trucks until I came to this forum. I learned a lot here. Thanks everyone. Don't get mad at me because you made the same mistake I did.

I rode in a frontier for 18 hours. Back seat for 9 hours and front for the other 9 coming back. They weren't comfortable to me at all. The seats are thinner than the one's in the Tacoma. I did notice there was more road noise. We were also towing a boat and didn't feel like it was getting as good mpg as the Tacoma. To me the dash is a lot nicer in the Tacoma also just seems fit and finish was more of a priority with Toyota. Other than that it got us there and back and we didn't get stuck in the muddy ass field we crossed.

Take it from Sal Marchiano and myself, happiness is CT in the rear view mirror. Good to know the truck is holding up like that, though. Go Sox.

The Frontier is a good truck, and will most likely provide many years of reliable service. I can agree with some of the ergo complaints that others have mentioned, but in the end, what is comfortable for you is more important than whether or not someone elses ass, legs, etc were happy in the truck. Drive them both and see what you like better. The Frontier is dated in styling, and perhaps a few other areas, but it is still good option. I always love the fucking resale comments - if you are planning on keeping it, AND it hits all your critical points - then resale is meaningless. Aftermarket options can be a factor, but when it comes down to it - evaluate your needs/wants and buy what hits the most marks and ignore the fanboys of either of the makes.

I think the Frontier Pro-4X actually looks cooler. With a crew cab and a 5' bed, it looks like a big head with a small body, but it doesn't look weird at all. I think it looks very sporty and agile, because of shorter wheel base, which is probably not as good as having a longer wheel base. But even with a crew cab, the rear sitting arrangement is not very roomy. I think it looks cooler than Tacoma though.

I didn't test drive the Nissan, because I need a longer bed for work, otherwise I would have gone with the Pro-4x.

Other than the appearance of the Pro-4x, I don't know any mechanical aspect of the vehicle.
