    getting there....
so....after work today...my manager calls me in and sits me down. he starts talking bout he has something i need to read and sign. its a form the big boss typed up about how its my last warning for my shitty attitude.....and if it happens again....i will be fired. whats weird........for sometime......ntohijg has been said about anything. the last time i was talked to....was when i came back year before last from my neck surgery and quite a few of my tools were missing and broken. i raised hell bout it...and got in trouble for that.

whats weird now......and i found out a while back that they werent gonna let me come back cause i may be a "liability"............is that i get this "last warning" after im out for 2 days with my high blood pressure deal. to me...its kinda like they are pushing me out...or trying to anyway. been at that place for 12 effin years......and they wanna use my attitude as the excuse. seems fishy as shit to me tho. what ya'll think about it??

and just to say....the warning i got today....thats the only written warning that i have ever received.........a couple of verbals thru the years.

Was any of your medical care on worker's compensation?

Speaking from experience, a worker's compensation claim often leads to termination under...suspect circumstances.

that is rather fishy, I will give you the advice that I gave my buddy when he was kinda in the same boat. Mind your business, do your job and don't make a lot of waves, therefore they can't say you aren't doing your job and they won't have a reason to say "bye bye"

It does sound fishy on their part.......

All I can say from years of experience is if you need the job (which I presume you do in these times) then kiss the pride goodbye, keep your but clean, and yes sir no sir is all you need to be saying. Hang in there, things seem to come out in the wash.

from past experience...document everything. Start writing out dates/events. Don't exaggerate, just get the main points across. Make sure to note the "warnings" that you received before as well as events that went unnoticed - you mentioned missing (assuming stolen) tools. Did they do anything about that situation? Or just try to brush it away? In the end don't try to point fingers at anyone just let it be known that people have been unprofessional across the board.

Damn Will, you're in a tough spot. I guess the best thing to do is get your resume in order, do your best to keep under the radar and start sending out applications. Hopefully things will work out for you at this place ( I'm sure you're a great mechanic), but if they don't, at least you'll be ready for it. Good luck, it's no fun being out of work.

no...not at all. i was out for 5 months, and when my vacation days/personal/sick days were used up.....we were living on the wife's paycheck.

i had been doing that i thought. i just think its strange getting singled out when i know for a fact im not the only one with a bad attitude sometimes.

as far as the tools go....they replaced a few of them and tried brushing off the rest.

Do you have a shitty attitude?

I get a shitty attitude sometimes. I have workers that have shitty attitudes all the time, but I keep them because they are good workers.

Just because they have not written you up before doesn't mean they have been happy with your attitude. I usually don't write someone up until they have really pissed me off, OR I am trying to get rid of them for constantly pissing me off.

If you like your job and want to stay there, then make them sick with your over the top positive attitude. If all your co-workers notice a change you have made then you have a company full of witnesses if they fire you.

sound like a tough spot to be in Will. I would play it cool as it seems to be you are "on the radar." I manage 40 people and if you get on my radar and I have a talking to you about it, I dont want any kiss ass, I just want you to do your job extra well. It usually takes 3 to 4 months to get off my radar. Good luck to you...we hope for the best, as someone said before, it is a good opportunity to get your resume together "just in case" you dont want to be looking for a job without one...it goes a lot better the other way.

i have a shitty attitude at times....as well as everyone else that works there. i dont think its possible...especially with all the change our company has had lately....to not have a crap attitude sometimes. but more than not...my attitude is based on decisions they make that hurt the company. i voice my opinion....hoping they will see where they are messing up. from here on out....i'll keep my piehole shut and let them run stuff in the ground.

This is a good idea especially if you have never done a resume, places like this will draw all those things out of you that you never even thought of

honestly now........i feel kinda stuck...if that makes sense. i have been here for 12 years.......working on golf cars. i weld...do some electrical....fabricate....quality control.........but the main thing has been golf cars. not much of a need for a golf cart mechanic round here.....so it feels kinda weird trying to find something else.
