Is anyone on here from the Frisco/Plano/Lewisville/Prosper area on here? Seen lots of cool builds on the road and would like to put a face to the build!

I’m off Lebanon and the tollway. Stock for now. Doing audio/sound deadening/electronic mods first. My aftermarket wheels are on a 3 month back order. My OEM+ speaker system should be here in a couple of weeks. Would love to have a meet and check out some other local enthusiasts and their builds. I have tons of questions about doing a lift.

I think a local taco meet would be sick. Quite a few of my friends drive Tacoma’s and I know that LCA has quite a few builds between the kids. Stock rigs or not I’m sure we could all learn something from a meet up!

And I’m in the same boat as you with a lift. I’m on stock ride height right now and I don’t really have any clearance problems, but my truck is sort of built like a bulldog lol

Will post pics. I’m tweaking the install a bit. Adding a magnetic micro switch so the lights automatically turn on when the tailgate is down and off when closed.

Couldn’t get the magnetic switch mounted anywhere it would work, so I just wired it per the instructions with the included switch.

I didn’t really try for the hood. It was the bed that I really wanted that option. If anyone is planning on doing this install they can have my magnetic switch. I’m not using it, and it’s too cheap to send back.

Hey everyone, I'm actually going to be relocating to the Plano area for work within the next several months.

I have a wife and two kids under 4. My wife and I have been looking for houses primarily in Frisco, McKinney, and Prosper.

Any advice on best schools or neighborhoods/areas in those towns to stay away from?

    thanks!

I'm in Coppell, so a little South and West. But I'm in that area from time to time.

If you’re willing to put up with the price tag, frisco is at the top of the list. You’ll have the cowboys facility, FC Dallas stadium, Legacy West, Stonebriar Mall, and all the rest of the fun stuff you’d attribute to a “big small city”.

I’m gonna say I’m a little biased because that’s where I live lol

but the main reason my parents moved to Frisco in the early 2000’s is because of the school system, and I can say as a student in frisco from day one it’s pretty great.

Also frisco is in transition from a small town to a bigger population due to all the new big business coming in, but with that being said we lack a lot of major crime or drug issues. Trust me they still exist but not nearly as much as in other areas.

the only problem with frisco right now is that there are hundreds of people wanting to come in and very few people wanting to leave, so the housing market is crazy right now and I routinely see houses getting sold for thousands of dollars over asking price.

the only thing I can’t speak on is some of the other cities you listed, prosper is making itself up to be the next frisco just a little bit more rural, honestly if you could go further north you could be stumbling onto a gold mine with how expensive everything is getting. But overall this whole area is a really great place to bring up a family and incredibly safe.

McKinney schools are mediocre. Don’t know about Prosper. Frisco schools are excellent. Where will you work be located? Those 3 cities you mentioned cover a vast geographical area. Also consider your life style. Frisco is closer to Plano of the 3 mentioned. I’m with Nathan, I prefer Frisco. I like being close to everything.

If you need a realtor, I have an amazing one who will really take care of you.

Thanks guys! Yeah, the housing market is insane down there right now. We started looking at Prosper because of the availability of new builds. We figured it would be an easier transition in selling our home in PA if we were building rather than buying existing. That said, we keep finding really nice existing homes in Frisco and McKinney (that sell in 30 seconds). In McKinney, we're looking only in McKinney Boyd high school. The other two schools in McKinney don't have great ratings. McKinney Boyd seems OK on paper. Is there a reason to avoid McKinney all together that I'm not seeing in the school ratings (drugs, crime, etc.)? Prosper High School is ranked lower than Boyd, but I've heard it's up and coming like Nathan said. The rural feel also appeals to me. All of Frisco's high schools are ranked much higher and the neighborhoods there appeal to us as well.

@NathanG223, are there any high schools in Frisco you'd recommend or would stay away from? We've been looking mostly in Wakeland and Reedy areas. My wife seems to think Purefoy looks like a good elementary school?

@Caboose69, I'm starting to realize just how big the area is. My perspective is Pittsburgh, which you can walk across in about 10 minutes and the suburbs only stretch for about 20 miles in every direction. I think DFW is about 7 times the population or something like that. Going to be a real adjustment for us haha

My office is going to be located in the Legacy office park on Legacy Drive near the North Tollway. Plano address, but it looks like it's closer to Frisco on the map.

From Boyd HS to your general office location (Awesome location by the way!) during commute hours is about 30-40 minutes one way, and that's using tollways. Longer if you don't want to spend the money. McKinney west of highway 75 is fine. East of 75 crime starts to go up. Based on what you said above Prosper seems like a good compromise. Prosper and especially McKinney are further from your office, but IMO the Dallas North Tollway makes Prosper acceptable from a commuting standpoint. Prosper will definitely have more opportunities for a rural lifestyle than Frisco.
