Well, I've finally upgraded. Sold my 04 TRD Offroad Prerunner and went all out on a loaded 16 TRD Offroad 4x4.. couldn't be happier!

Nice! I went from a Prerunner to 4x4 too. You'll have a lot of fun going places the 2wd couldnt, assuming you're into off roading. Any plans for mods?

Thanks guys! No Mods for now until I leave Hawaii I don't wanna deal with recons and bs. When I get to where I'm going 3 inch lift, bumpers and tires to start. Gonna keep it simple like my old 1st gen.

Made the same switch this weekend. Went from a 2001 Extra cab, 2.7, 5 speed, 4x4 sr5 to a 2016 Trd off road 4x4 dclb. image.jpgSo far I'm really impressed. How many miles were on your 1st gen?

Nice! I shouldve gotten the roof rack. Its hard to negotiate here when everyone wants them. I had to wait two weeks for the truck because they can't keep them on the lots here. About 154k. Sold it here I Hawaii for $10,500 to a buddy of mine.

How do you compare power to weight ratio in both trucks, OP?

I felt like my 1st gen had more power. But the power to weight ratio in the 1st gen (mini truck with a 3.4) compared to my 3rd (mod size with 3.5) is going to completely different. But, with 125 miles on the new truck I haven't really gotten on it yet. The 3.5 makes good power though.

Yea I feel like tacomas in Hawaii are the equivalent to the Prius in Marin county ca. Everyone and there 2nd cousin has one or wants one. Nice looking truck! I really lucked out with mine. I showed up and it was siting on the lot with all the options I wanted.

I drove a 1st Gen for 18 years my self, very reliable trucks but I had been waiting for the 3rd Gen for quite some time.

Congrats on your 3rd Gen, enjoy.

Both those trucks are beautiful. Was it hard to let the last one go.

I imagine the excitement of having 4wd in the new truck helped to alleviate any feelings of remorse in getting rid of the 2wd first gen

It was. But it was time for a "bigger" truck and my first Tacoma was so good to me I had to stay in the family.

We have the same tastes color wise and our choice hides dirt well and keeps the shine longer, IMO. I had the same color as your 2004 for 18 years and loved it, when I bought the 2006, I went with desert sand mica and feel the same way as the previous silver.

Congratulation on your new truck!

I had a 2010 Camry and loved it. Except it is the most boring car on the planet to drive. But it does everything exceptionally well. Went to a Mazda CX-5 and it was a beautiful piece of machinery but I friggin love my new Tacoma! It makes driving exciting again.

Almost had a riot with potential buyers of my 2004. Looking at yours I'm sure it was the same.
