From Concept to Production...Level 8 MK6

Ok I got my wheels choice selection down to these MK6's, SCS Ray 8's or Ray 10's. I know there is a price difference so right now i'm leaning towards these MK6's since they look real good on the Tacoma's. Before I make my purchase, I have a black double cab long bed, should I do black the bronze? I lean towards black since I haven't seen the bronze versions

I think there is some pics of black and bronze earlier in this thread? I get my bronze wheels tomorrow!!

 

I like the design of the SCS they look great but I want something simple, nice anz easy to clean

That's what I'm saying get the MK6 in Bronze! I'm leaning towards the bronze myself for my MGM taco but may get the gray.

 

I did find 2nd gen taco's that were black with bronze so that gives me a pretty good idea of what they would look like on the 3rd gen.

Great point - something easy to clean is a plus. I have had so many wheels in the past that were a pain in the arse to clean and I tend to let the truck get a lot dirtier than my cars lol

Ok I think I am sold on these wheels. I still need to determine which offset and which color, but I think these are the wheels. I'm still now trying to determine which lift to go with, I wish lifts were as easy as picking wheels lol

16x8 0offset.
Only paid $119 a piece.

 

Doesn't matter. The offset doesn't have anything to do with the width of the rim, only how far out or in the rim will sit from the mounting surface.

 

I have bronze MK6, but not a black truck. Will be moving to bronze SCS F5s though

 

I was just told by the discount tire guy at the local store that the 16 inch are no longer available/cannot get them, but was able to get the 17's still. Not certain the truth of this, but that's what he mentioned. @Discount Tire Direct , is this correct?

The Level 8 brand was sold to another wheel manufacturer and as of right now, Level 8 production has been put on hold while the new manufacturer assesses popular SKUs, etc. That being said, there is a chance some of the 16-inch MK6 models are not available. Which offset and finish are you after? I'll gladly double check availability for you.

 

Looking at black in 0 offset. The salesman did make a call to someone to confirm that so he could be accurate.

 

Thank you for the additional details. I doubled check availability and all 16-inch MK6 wheels are sold out. I checked 17-inch as well, and I see the only available option is the 17x8 ET-10 MK6 in the matte gunmetal finish.

Are there other models you are considering?

 

The black 16 inch seems to be pretty popular, I have a set. I would think if this new company looks at popular SKUs, they will continue this one. Just a guess of course, I can’t see the big picture.

 

I agree it's very popular!

On a side note, what also delays availability is the transfer of the molds. In this particular case, after the SKU's are decided on, said SKU molds then need to be transferred from the existing factories to the new manufacturer's factories.

 

What a bummer. I, honestly, haven't even looked at other wheels on your website. I'll do that this weekend and see what other options are out there.

Not to take away business from DTD (I always buy there), but eBay has some 16s in bronze (0 and -10 available).

 

I wish you first choice was available - my apologies for being the bearer of bad news!
