The stock offroad wrasnglers are a decent tire and you do not need to lift the truck to stuff a 285 in there. Just means a little more trimming.

Ah see I was under the impression that you had to have some lift to account for the height difference on the tire in the fender well. I never even thought to search for clearing them stock. So in reality with some decent bump stops and some trimming, as long as the factory suspension has enough down travel to make up for the loss of uptravel from the larger tires, you could have a decent setup on factory suspension with the tires I'm going for.

So I've been looking into the ome bp51 kit more. It seems to have a lot of nice features built in but it doesn't come with ucas. It says it's designed to be a 2" kit but suspension is adjustable. I interpret that as in they designed and tested the kit with 2 inches in mind but could be adjusted for a little more lift if you felt it was necessary. That being said is 2 inches of lift basicly the maximum before you need uca adjustment? I would assume such a high quality kit would include ucas if they felt it was necessary but maybe not. If I absolutely have to purchase ucas before lifting 2 inches im starting to wonder if kings kit that comes with total chaos ucas may be a better option. I'm finding the ome kit for around 3100 and the king kit for around 3700. The king kit runs an aal while the ome runs a full leaf pack. So each kit seems to have its pros and cons but I think the ome kit with some tc ucas added on seems to be more bang for your buck. But what do I know I'm just a yota rookie. Curious to hear your opinions. Right now I'm weighing my options on higher end kits and then after I decide on a higher end kit im going to go back and do the same for a more middle of the road kit. After I have a middle of the road kit and a high end kit picked out then I'm going to put them against each other and do a little pro vs con, cost vs benefit analysis to decide which one truly fits my needs better.

And by middle of the road I'm talking about a setup that doesn't have remote reservoirs because like I said as much I like to think I am, I'm really not building a desert race truck lol and I don't think the remote resi's are honestly that necessary for my needs.

Got some dirt time in tonight. I'm blown away by the performance of the truck completely stock. Nothing too bad terrain wise but some very steep inclines and off camber situations on tight trails. No mud since Its been blazing hot here in oregon lately. It's been at least 80 for a solid couple weeks so the trails are all dust. Even without mud it's still very low traction because of the dusty hard packed trail and the truck crawled right up the steep inclines with zero issues. Pictures dont do it justice but it was really steep. Had to take some poser shots for later reference after it's all modded up.

Oh ya and I hit the 100 mile mark. I've only owned it for like 3 days, those miles seem to be racking up fast!

Getting some shop time in tonight. Just simple led headlights. I went with the auxbeam f16s. For the price they are pretty nice. The fans are a little louder than I expected but unless you sit around with your engine off and your headlights on all the time I dont see why they would bother me. And stupid me, didnt realize they where pairs so i ordered four pairs... I guess I'm gunna do fog lights too since I have them lol.

The jeeps where a little uneasy at first but now they seem to be getting along with each other nicely Haha

Oh and I have 6 extra auxbeam stickers if anyones interested lol

Over all I'm pretty happy. They havent caught on fire yet so that's a start! It's not dark yet but as soon as the sun goes down I'll go take some night pics.

I imagine that being new to the forum and uneducated about tacomas a lot of people are probably passing me off as just another noob that wants to take pictures of his new 3rd gen. I just wanna give a little sneak peek of some things to come. 20180730_224401.jpg

I spent some quality time on the interwebs tonight. Ended up buying some high quality parts from some high quality people. I have one more order to place tomorrow and hopefully Wednesday I'll have enough time to stop and get my wheels and tires ordered. This is all @JaCado's fault. Got the buy once cry once thing stuck in my head now. Stay tuned guys I think this is gunna end up being a pretty sweet little truck!

Make sure they know you want to run 285s when they assemble that kit. I do not believe it’s adjustable while installed. Otherwise, it’s supposed to be a sweet suspension!

Ya from everything I've read it sounds like it's pretty much impossible to adjust without taking it all apart again. I'm going to install it my self if I can. I need to do some more research on what I need to set everything at to start. That's the only thing I'm nervous about is all the adjustments. This will be my first time installing coilovers so I'm kinda going in blind besides info I've read.

If anyone has any helpful threads they've seen or info they've found through their own experiences with the bp51 kit please feel free to school me.

You've created a monster! Haha no I knew better than to buy a cheaper lift you just helped convince me. This may be my first taco but it isn't my first rodeo building 4x4s. I just decided I spent 40k on a truck so why stop now. May as well spend 50k and have the truck I always wanted.

Ok I'm bored I have like 5k worth of parts for my truck in the mail but tonight I cant install or mess with anything. First world problems I guess. I did finally get everything finished up with the banks and the dealership this evening so that's good i guess. Also I made an appointment to get my front windows tinted to match the backs. I guess it's just a tw reading night for me.
