    Hi guys,

I owned a 2018 V6 TRD Sport, and it was my dream truck until I started driving it. My complaints were as follows: crazy wind noise on the highway; the truck would downshift whenever I tried to keep up with 70 MPH and it felt underpowered; the 5 foot bed was tiny both ways; steering wheel does not adjust beyond the 0.5-1 inch out which makes it was uncomfortable to hold on to; no heated steering wheel.
I did love the truck, but sold it and got into a 2020 Tundra DC. Tundra had everything I needed, but the 13.5 MPG was the best I could get. Paying 100$ a week for gas got a bit much. After a year, I got rid of it and got a 2021 RAV4 Prime. Of course, there are things I dont like about this car as well. There is no regular remote start. The one this car comes with is for higher temps, so warming up the car in the winter pretty much does not happen.

Any news on redesign or any upcoming changes to the Tacoma that had fix the complaints I had with it in the past? Does Tacoma come with a remote start that you can use on your phone, or do I have to only use my key?

Its still basically the same truck, 2024 is the 4th Gen.

I suggest you hang on to the Tundra. I highly doubt the new gen Tacoma is going to fix your issue about box size!

Edit: If I had read more I would have realized you already got rid of that too... for a Rav4... and you don't like things about that... maybe a bicycle would be better...

Too much wind noise with the bicycle and no heated steering. I got rid of it when I was 16.

I can deal with the box size, but not the other things. I was hoping for a mid cycle refresh of some kind.

It would seem the mid-cycle refresh was a power drivers seat and an LED headlamps option. Right now anything 4 gen is pure speculation.

I'm delighted with my Access Cab. Love it.

Given the choice I'd sell my mother to the Taliban to keep the Tacoma.

But I lived through the 60's and 70's and 80's when you might get 50,000 miles out of a new car, and
expect to see it in the shop for major repairs 2-3 times a year... when I hear complaints about minor
issues like a bit of wind noise or the steering wheel doesn't get auto-warm I have to wonder how someone
would have survived the Cordoba ...

Get a long bed Tacoma . The 2020 or was it 2021 and up Tacomas have thicker glass or something like that to reduce wind noise.

Buy some Exxon and Chevron stock to help you feel not so bad about increasing gas prices lol.

I hear the op on the tundra gas issue, even my 2001 tundra as much as i liked it, the 14-15 mpg average was old. I had that truck for about 19 years until i saw my buddies 2019 trd tacoma which wasn't bad. I ended up waiting till 2020 test driving them. While they were not my tundra i figured i could work with it. Long story short i bought the tacoma, and its been a great truck getting 22-23 mpg mostly on secondary highways and some city. Really the only complaint is the ride plushness the tundra had.

No - that won’t work either as there is no remote start.

    02 Double cab Tacoma
Bringing this back as I'm in a similar position. I had 06 Tacoma sport, 4x4 manual that I absolutely loved. I drove a tundra and really liked the power and the extra room. Sold the Tacoma and bought an 07 tundra limited double cab. I've now had the tundra almost 4 years and it's been a great truck. Admittedly it's more truck than I absolutely need, but again love the power and size. I've always hated the gas mileage situation -- 11mpg average and I do quite a bit of driving on smaller forest roads and snow driving.
I hopped in a buddy's Tacoma last week and couldn't get over how much smaller the interior was, but it got around in the snow on tight roads way better than the tundra ever could. I find myself wanting to go back. Curious if OP or others in similar situation went back and are happy/regretful.
    Cheers

I started out with toyota 4x4 compact pickups till my last 93 opting for a tundra in 01. The tundra was a great truck, its downfall was 19 years old, and addicted to gasoline. Bought a 2020 tacoma, and its been wonderful, especially not anywhere near the gas hog the tundra was.
