I like the Hilux Toyota's Truck sold every place else in the world except the USA since it is a 3.0 turbo Diesel. Double Cab short bed, but hey with excellent miles per gallon compared to v6 gas, I can live with the higher fuel prices. So they thanked my for my time.

Oops, i wasn't done yet. The next question, since I had their attention, was if I wanted a double cab with the long bed (6feet) manual 4x4, which only comes in the automatic vs the double cab manual shift ( standard short bed 5feet) , why couldn't the long bed double cab be a manual shift. And here is the reply:

"We apologize that the 2013 Tacoma Double Cab Long Bed is not available with a manual transmission. Toyota’s decisions are based on sales trends and market interests. (my thought is if you don't offer it, how can you verify with sales trends, that you should not offer it?) However, we are aware of consumer opinions and consistently strive to remain competitive in today's market.

The extent of information we have regarding a manual transmission for the Tacoma is the 6-speed manual transmission is optional for the Prerunner and 4X4. We are sorry if this does not meet your needs.

While we can't guarantee that a change would be made, we can guarantee your comments are made available for review by the appropriate departments. We need to know the reactions and expectations of our customers. Thank you for taking the time and effort to let us yours. We really appreciate your candid, honest communication that you have volunteered."

I e-mailed them because they should have a more durable, el-cheapo "work truck" interior available on any cab/drivetrain configuration a customer wants, just like the full-size trucks, and I got that same response slightly modified to somewhat answer my question.
