TC is the gold standard when it comes to tacomas. If you're going for big travel 4wd solo is your best bet. But for 2" kits theirs TC which are a guarantee and consistent. Everyone else is cheaper but you'll pay for it in one way or another

Agreed on this, the race series is def worth it if going tc.

Slightly different tangent but still on topic: Total Chaos Race kit vs. their standard +2 kit.

Total Chaos doesn't do enough justice to how much better the Race kit actually is from their standard +2 kit. The lower uniball is the real important meat of the change, not just the lighter arms. The race kit uses a uniball conversion to the existing lower ball joint cradle. What this means is that you keep the ball joint in compression. The standard kit uses a complete uniball adapter to the knuckle, so the ball joint is in tension. Suspension 101 will teach you that ball joints in tension are bad, durability is a huge concern when you do that. This change alone easily justifies the $300 price difference to me, not even considering the improved weight and clearance.

    TLDR: Get the race kit.

To be fair, the other brands listed on page 1 also use this improved design. I was just comparing for people considering the cheaper TC Standard kit instead of the race kit.

I'd like to see a comparison on usable travel. All claim to have "XX" amount of travel but it seems on some other forums, including FJ, they do not perform as advertised. From what I've been reading, Allpro seems to give the most, but it still seems to vary.

    Some info I've found.

Solid info, can't echo this design approach enough it's got the right stuff for the long haul. Many guys are updating their front kit due to the redesign of the LCAs. Also as crazy as it sounds and after many spend all that money to get LT, they think why didn't I just spend a few hundred more when I'm already at 3k?

Agreed. I've got $3500 in my current midtravel, probably $4500 if you count the other options I did to get there. While I'm happy with the ride, adjustability, and durability, I am ultimately unhappy with my travel and will be going with a +2. That's a lot of wasted coin. I'm not in the same boat as early LT'ers but the same principle applies when deciding to LT or not.

While obviously you won't get the same amount you put into it, you have quality components that will still be worth a good amount. Not a bad idea to buy all your LT stuff and then make up for the left over funds in reinforcing and stuff as well as some cool by passes if you want to go that route. Props to you for sticking to the course though after all that investment.

Baja Kits has a deal where if you buy their +2 kit they will buy from you your current aftermarket upper arms.

There's also a thread on here where members had issues with Baja Kits +2. Just another consideration. I think @Coot83 was part of that particular conversation in the LT BS thread.

Yea I have been part of some of that. I know some guys didn't gets parts initially with their baja kits so I would def do a personal quality check on everything before doing the swap. I believe things worked out eventually, but I think if you check before hand and something arises then it's only a matter of waiting.

I don't believe there were any issues with the kit ( if you can find that post, post it ) but yes, our assembly team member did forget some hardware but everything was taken care of right away.

@LTDSC had some sort of tie rod extension issues? I believe he got squared up eventually...I know his kit was used, but he needed some critical components to convert to a runner.

@Caboose117 for his experience in the 2+ kit he got. I remember he has had a hell of a time trying to get things figured out, but maybe got them good now?

These are the two who recently stand out to me.

He bought the kit used from me. Tie rods are a different size on 4runners. I did end up with some issues apparently being the first 4 banger regular cab with the kit. If you're a V6 they shouldn't carry over to your truck.

My kit was used as @Dalandser stated. I got it handled outside of BajaKits but the kit itself is great, very happy with the kit.

I think they'd send the right ones if someone ordered their 4Runner kit.

You refuse to use a kit that's better than Baja Kits because it uses a higher quality part? I think I know of more people taking off their Baja Kits because they're unhappy with them to go with Solo or TC.

Have you forgotten that this kit is intended to be used on a truck off road, where there is going to be noise, vibration, and harshness in the terrain? Way to throw out "industry jargon" to us common peasants though.
